Publisher's summary

The ninth victim in the Bicycle Chain murders is found dead on his living room floor grasping a paper bag containing a pickle.

Detective Jack Carter is working on the biggest murder case of his life. Which means, the last thing he needs is to find out that the one woman he has feelings for might be involved in the murders.

Vicky Peik knows things - and one of those things is that her boss, Detective Jack Carter, is in over his head. Vicky has stayed a step ahead of Jack in her private investigation. Only problem is, despite her ability to sense the killer, he has managed to stay a step ahead of her. Something's wrong, and it's closer to home than Jack can imagine. Can Vicky find the killer before things go too far, and Jack can't get out?

A short fun listen that will have you remembering the old Spicy Pulps

What did you like best about this story?

Witty dialog fun story

What does Mike Dennis and Jennifer Saucedo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Yes they both did a great job and Mike Dennis is the go to guy for Pulp Noir

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes will listen to again fun stuff

Any additional comments?

I have been a big fan of the old Pulps and when I listened to this one i was under the impression that it was one of the vintage stories of yesteryear and was surprised to find out it's the New Pulp and well worth checking out.

Modern Spicy Pulp? More like Warmed over Pablam

Mike Dennis gives a fine performance, but he can't save this because the story relies too much on old tropes and rehashed slang. Archer is so busy paying homage to the old pulps that he fails to do anything with the story. This is disappointing because this had potential, but the story is just far too blah to make you care. Dull and highly derivative, this one isn't recommended.
