Publisher's summary

Nine years ago, things were perfect. Lacey and Karson had found their happily ever after in each other... or so they thought. How do two people who were meant to be move on from that once-in-a-lifetime love?

Lacey has a strength inside her that comes alive with the things she's most passionate about. She's a fighter and a survivor, and she has everything she's ever wanted except the one thing that matters most - love.

Karson is doing the one thing he loves most - playing hockey for the Assassins - yet he knows regret. He knows his life has been missing the one thing he walked away from so many years ago: Lacey.

Nine years later, and neither has been able to succeed in moving on from what was, what could have been, and who each of their hearts still beats for. When a chance encounter during a fateful night has their paths crossing again, will the tether still attaching their souls allow them to face the past, present, and a possible future?

Contains mature themes.

I think Aleo got paid by the word!

Let me say first that I have enjoyed the preceding books i this series, decreasing with each new story. However, this one is beyond tedious. The same thing happens, over and over, and the heroine just gets stupider and stupider about her reactions.

The other problem is that the author (or reader) doesn’t know what a contraction is. The language becomes old fashioned and stilted. This a book set I the present but it reads like a two hundred year old story. Listening to it is much harder than reading these words.

Karson and Lacey

I loved the book and I love the audio. Lucy Malone does a great job in bringing this book to life. I wish there were more guys like Karson. It took a while, but I'm glad Lacey finally got the courage to live without the ones who were trying to run her life. Great read and a great listen!

Monotonous

I had a hard time finishing, it was too long and too much whining by the main characters, the point of the story could have been told in a much shorter version
Similar theme to book 1 which I also thought was too long
I forced myself to finish this book because I felt I had too much time invested in the story not to finish

The Same Stuff

I started by listening to the first few chapters and lost interest. This series should have stopped after the first five, while it was good, because it's beginning to be too much.

17 hours of dribble

If you like books about simple mined, pathetic, weak, easily manipulated woman, than this book is for you.
I give negative stares

Narrator Lucy Malone blows me away!

I’ve been listening to Toni Aleo’s Series: Assassins in order and Lucy Malone is THE best, most efficient narrator! My library of audiobooks is more than 2,000 & Lucy by far is my favorite narrator. The voices, accents, personalities & more she expresses identical to a series book narrated years later and she expresses feelings leading one to believe she’s present. I WILL look for all books she narrates. She supersedes 2, 4 & more narrators together narrating a story!!!

Karson is a saint!

I have never wanted to wrap my hands around a characters throat in a book like I want to do with Lacey. She continually throws herself pity parties. She is full of insecurites and always second guesses herself. Then there is her family and best friend. Don't get me started on them! However, sometimes I could honestly relate to what was going on in her mind. She is dang lucky to have someone like Karson to have her back. Karson is so patient he deserves a medal. With the help of her brother (who redeems himself) Lacey realizes what she is doing before it's too late. Good story with a bit of an emotional overload.

Loved

Loved the love story. Lacey did make me mad because it took her so long to truly believe in the love of her husband.
