Publisher's summary

A suspense-driven new-adult romance novel from the USA Today best-selling author of Ten Tiny Breaths and Burying Water.

Luke Boone doesn't know exactly what his uncle Rust is involved in, but he wants in on it - the cars, the money, the women. And it looks like he's finally getting his wish. When Rust hands him the managerial keys to the garage, they come with a second set - one that opens up the door to tons of cash and opportunity. Though it's not exactly legal, Luke's never been one to worry about that sort of thing. Especially when it puts him behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 and onto the radar of a gorgeous socialite named Rain.

Clara Bertelli is at the top of her game - at only 26 years old, she's one of the most successful undercover officers in the Washington, DC, major crime unit, and she's just been handed a case that could catapult her career and expose one of the West Coast's most notorious car theft rings. But in order to do it, she'll need to go deep undercover as Rain Martines. Her target? The 24-year-old nephew of a key player who appears ready to follow in his uncle's footsteps.

As Clara drifts deeper into the luxurious lifestyle of Rain and further into the arms of her very attractive and charming target, the lines between right and wrong start to blur, making her wonder if she'll be able to leave it all behind. Or if she'll even want to.

I have no idea what took me so long to get to this book. I really enjoyed it and the characters. After book 1 I wasn't thrilled about a Luke Boone book but my opinion changed 100%. This book is filled with excitement and action and also steamy with a sweet love story. Can't wait to move on to book 3.

The narration is good, I enjoy Elizabeth Louise for NA Adult's and Josh Goodman is always great too.

Keeps you on your toes!

Amazing as always. This was my second book of KA Tucker's and this book is just as thrilling as the first. I wasn't even half way through burying water when I decided I was a fan and bought the whole series and am glad I did!

TOTALLY SURPRISED BY THE SUSPENSE.

Becoming Rain is the second entry in the Burying Water serie by K. A. Tucker, and as much as I liked the first book, Burying Water, Becoming Rain took my enjoyment to a different level.

I eat up these audiobooks like pop-corn strictly for the entertainment value. I don’t expect to find philosophical answers or long life lessons to live by. I love them b/c they take me away, and now, if the author adds a suspenseful plot and twist and turns to an already interesting love story, you can bet I’ll devour it.

Undercover agent, Clara Bertelli has become “Rain” to get close to the target of her investigation.
She was aware of all the risks this mission presented, but she never imagined her heart and career in danger. But as love stories go, the closer she got to her target, the closer he got to her heart – easily understood after we meet Luke Boone.

I was surprised by the level of suspense I found in the plot. Things got slow start while things got setup, but by the middle I was completely enthralled with Luke and Rain’s point of view. I got lost in the world of mafia, crime, romance, and pounding moments that made the 11 hours in the audiobook feel more like three.

Genre: NA Contemporary
Sensuality: HOT

NARRATION
Again, Elizabeth Louise proves why she’s ones the best voices and interpreters of NA novels.
Her delivery of Becoming Rain is outright fantastic!
Clara (Rain)’s point of view was a flawless interpretation by Elizabeth. Her delivery yield a strong and smart heroine that even in the moments of doubt never come across as a weak character. I love that!
The suspense and romance are equally transmitted to the listener to ensure a great experience.

I wasn’t 100% sold on the interpretation of Jesse on Burying Water by Josh Goodman. I liked it, but I thought he sounded a bit much of a wise guy. Now for Luke Boone was a totally fitting approach and enjoyed his performance much more than I did in the previous novel.

All in all, I really enjoyed both of their performances, they made Becoming Rain a real winner for me.

How to catch a car thief

STORY (romance/suspense) - Clara is an FBI agent, undercover as sexy rich girl Rain so she can spy on sexy possible car thief Luke. Things get really complicated when Rain starts to actually have feelings for Luke. What follows is a sweet romance and a lot of sticky situations as Rain tries to investigate the car thief ring while protecting Luke from danger...as she tries to hide her feelings and their, um, escapades from her partners who listen to her every move through a bugged necklace she wears 24/7.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the ending. The romance is sweet and the investigation is suspenseful, though I wouldn't call it edge-of-your seat stuff. I won't say the book is slow because it isn't, but it's not fast-paced either. It is a nice, easy listen which comes to a realistic conclusion.

PERFORMANCE - The book has a male and a female narrator, and they alternate chapters and perspectives. Therefore, each has a voice for Rain and a voice for Luke, so the main characters sound differently depending who is reading. I enjoyed hearing both perspectives as the story moved along and both narrators do a great job.

OVERALL - There is no violence in this book, although there is a murder. There are only a couple sex scenes, and they're not very long or explicit. This is the second book in the series, but it stands alone. The story is about 50% romance and 50% suspense, so I don't really think it's a guy-type book. Recommended for gals old enough to hear lots of F-words.

As long as you get there in the end

Loved the story. Caught up in the lights and glamour, Luke finds himself in the middle of a criminal syndicate of stolen cars. He's young and naive. Clara is a cop who wants to make a difference. Sent undercover to crack the crime syndicate wide open, she doesn't mean to fall in love with Luke. How can they make it through to the end when the journey was clouded with lies?
