About this listen

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Brad Thor delivers his most frightening and pulse-pounding thriller ever!

After a CIA agent mysteriously dies overseas, his top asset surfaces with a startling and terrifying claim. There’s just one problem - no one knows if she can be trusted.

But when six exchange students go missing, two airplane passengers trade places, and one political-asylum seeker is arrested, a deadly chain of events is set in motion.

With the United States facing an imminent and devastating attack, America's new president must turn to covert counterterrorism operative Scot Harvath to help carry out two of the most dangerous operations in the country’s history.

Code-named "Gold Dust" and "Blackbird", they are shrouded in absolute secrecy as either of them, if discovered, will constitute an act of war.

Classic Brad Thor.

Detailed and consistent drama. Brad Thor never fails to deliver. Intense at times but never over the top. Respect his research and his ability to keep reader involved. Armand Schultz does his usual A+ narration.

Good book... a little predictable

This was another good Brad Thor book with constant intrigue and action. It was a little predictable but it was a fun listen just the same. Armand Schultz has a bunch of different character voices so each sounds individual, not just another of the same. He does a good job with faster paced scenes as well as build up. I would recommend this to any Brad Thor fan.

China attempts to destroy the United States

I thought the storyline for this book was excellent. The pace was good. The Chinese government and agents were appropriately evil. I'm not sure I got much out of the story taking place in North Korea but it was a decent diversion from the main story when I needed a break. Scot Harvath seems to have improved with time from being a Secret Service agent at the president's disposal to a special agent/troubleshooter to a hired gun/torturer. Now he has become the guy in charge of missions critical to the survival of our country. His message is just as urgent, but the sadistic torture has definitely decreased. I agree with the changes.

a great thriller

I found this to be absolutely terrifying, but this is my favorite Scott Harvath book. Brad Thor is the new master of the spy thriller genre.

Disappointed Ending

Would you consider the audio edition of Act of War to be better than the print version?

Yes, it's faster to listen to this story than to read.

What did you like best about this story?

The story line was believable.

What about Armand Schultz’s performance did you like?

Yes, I was captivated from beginning to end.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No

Any additional comments?

I thought the ending was not believable. The Chinese government would not agree to cave in so easily.

great factional book

I like fact based books. I read, get curious and suddenly I am researching a new line of thinking about politics in other nation states. Thor provides just enough to inform.
