Publisher's summary

Suffer the Children presents a terrifying tale of apocalyptic fiction, as listeners are introduced to Herod's Syndrome, a devastating illness that suddenly and swiftly kills all young children across the globe. Soon, they return from the grave, and ask for blood. And with blood, they stop being dead. They continue to remain the children they once were, but only for a short time, as they need more blood to live. The average human body holds 10 pints of blood, so the inevitable question for parents everywhere becomes: How far would you go to bring your child back?

Absolutely chilling

What other book might you compare Suffer the Children to and why?

The book actually reminded me of the movie "Blindness" (2008) in the tone of it.

What about R. C. Bray’s performance did you like?

RC Bray is a favorite narrator of mine - he never fails to bring forth the right emotion and voice to the story and characters.

Any additional comments?

Absolutely chilling look at parents, children, and parental actions/responsibilities. The writing is great and the narration is spot on and excellent. I found it an interesting study on what parents are willing to do for their kids. Pretty horrifying stuff. Definitely check this out if you aren't easily shaken by children in horror settings.

Absolutely Fantastic!

Probably the best story and narration of any audio book I've listened to. Amazing.

Interesting premise, too much filler

The concept was cool, but I felt the plot was underdeveloped and the characters got too much attention. With that much attention on a large cast, the book should have been longer. For me, there just wasn't enough going on.

Awesome story

I'm not into plagues or apoloclypic books, but this was so good! What would you do for your kids? What lengths would you give through? These poor parents! OMG! Nobody wins!

Excellent story!

Riveting Horror

I couldn't stop listening. This book is an excellent addition to the horror genre. Every moment is filled with foreboding as you watch the troubling events unfold. I found the simplest lines sending chills down my spine.

Great Horror story

I was looking for a new book to listen to for the Halloween season and was recommended this. I have read the author before and like him and Bray is one of my favorite narrators so I got it. This was a very good story that shows just how far parents are willing to go, to try to spend more time with their children.

I love this book! Great voice and acting. I found myself just sitting in my car listening to it when I should have gone in the store 15 mins ago! A must listen.

Super Dark

The tone of this book turns dark fast and spirals from there. Lots of chaos and broken sanity. If you like that sort of thing, this is a great book.

CREEPY CREEPY CREEPY!!! Did I mention CREEPY?

What did you like best about Suffer the Children? What did you like least?

This story really bothered me but in a good way for a horror novel. There is NOTHING creepier to me than a young child that has turned “evil” in a horror film and Craig Dilouie REALLY took it to another level with this one!

Would you be willing to try another book from Craig Dilouie? Why or why not?

I am already planning to try on of his other books.

Which character – as performed by R. C. Bray – was your favorite?

RC Bray did a great job with all of the Characters. I have listened to many different Zombie books narrated by R.C. but this was the first Horror and man was he great at making the kids scary!

Was Suffer the Children worth the listening time?

I'm conflicted. I want to say I enjoyed this book but after it was all over all I could think was WTF just happened?
