Woods is to action as poison ivy is to scratching. One simply causes the next. Victor the Assassin is designed to race these vehicles full throttle. Is there plot? Well, surprisingly yeah. But its carefully inserted to allow you to connect the adventure scenes without distraction. The Enemy is better than The Killer which I gave a hassle of stars. BUT - you gotta' read The Killer first to squeeze all of the fuel out of he plotting.

If you like to feel the spatter of blood mist, and the stink of GSR... Well you'll swagger out of this book Oh, and even at this pace, the story careens around its twists and turns at full throttle.

I'm off to get The Game, the next in the series. You want commercial, escapist, action/adventure? Tom Woods does it as well as anyone and Rob Shapiro creates the cast to pay it all off.

Would you listen to The Enemy again? Why?

probably not. I really enjoyed it the first time and the time listening flew by. But once you know what happens and how, I think the thrill would be gone.

What about Rob Shapiro’s performance did you like?

easy to listen to, the characters all were different, I would gladly listen to him again.

Any additional comments?

a good action/spy type read. Kept me interested till the end.

another fun read or should i say listen

Victor is back but this time he is forced to work for the CIA. Multiple tough assignments on short notice are the rule of the day, and even Victor has trouble making things happen the way he wants. Once again Tom Wood gets the details right. The book is populated with great (if not very nice) characters, sharp writing, and some good narration by Rob Shapiro add up to fine listen. There are twists I didn't see coming; I won't give away any spoilers but it turns out Victor can be a softy (of sorts) "...remember, cut the BLUE wire."

Almost as good as the first

Tom Wood's Victor the Assassin series of books is outstanding, especially paired with the perfection of Rob Shapiro's narration.

Excellent, suspenseful series!

Not that it is amazing. Solid action novel but don't do too many in a row (gets repetitive)

Better than Mitch Rapp

Lots of action, many twists, minimal gratuitous sex and language. Really well done details into thoughts of the protagonist

Way cool ;-) Absorbing

This book picks up exactly where the last one left off. Victor is still an amazing contract killer for hire who comes off as a very good guy. This book also sets the stage for his working with (and for) the CIA. Again, the narrator is really great and the story is pretty good. I highly recommend both books in this series if you enjoy adventure and mystery. It is good enough to stand on its own if you have not ready "The Killer" but if you are considering both, start with "The Killer" (#1 in the series). After this, be sure to move to Book #3 in the series "The Game".

Great Sequel to "The Killer"

Amazing story. Amazing character. Caught myself sitting in my car garage waiting for the next chapter to end -- thrilling. Great attention to details.

Move over Jack Reacher!

Victor can do it all, and like Rapp, doesn't need cgi to pull it off, just an indomitable will. I'm all in for the series.

Victor is "Mitch Rapp"ian when playing for US.

I think it important to state that this book is not for everyone. The concept of an assassin who is able to kill without remorse, coupled with descriptions of many people being killed, is unusual and would be disturbing to some. Frankly, I would not have expected this book to appeal to me. I like action and adventure, but I do not like brutality and I find no pleasure in thinking about others being hurt. Nevertheless, I like this book. In a strange and intriguing way, it rises above "blood and guts" to put the mind of the reader into trying to understand how an assassin might think and why he would choose to do what he does. In other words, while containing plenty of action and violence, the stronger appeal of the book is intellectual. I cannot say the story is "fun," but it is fascinating and clever. I enjoyed it and look forward to the next one in the series.

I am enjoying this series immensely!
