When vintage cookware and cookbook collector Jaymie Leighton spies an original 1920s Hoosier brand kitchen cabinet at an estate auction, it's love at first sight. Despite the protests of her sister that the 19th-century yellow-brick house they share in Michigan is already too cluttered with Jaymie's "junk," she successfully outbids the other buyers and triumphantly takes home her Hoosier.

But that night on the summer porch where they've left the Hoosier to be cleaned up, a man is murdered, struck on the head with the steel meat grinder that is part of the cabinet. Who is this stranger - and what was he doing on their porch? Does his death have anything to do with the Hoosier?

Most relevant
clean and entertaining. I appreciated the understated romance, the interaction between sisters, the nosy, friendly, helpful, gossipy, colorful people in town. It did make me hungry though as it talked about various types of food. the main character might have a slight horsing problem. I learned a little bit of history as well. good choice if you want a book that makes you curious without too much adrenaline or that doesn't ask existential questions.

I like the theme of the series but did not think it was up to par with her Muffin series. So it was a bit of a let down. I may or may not read book 2 in the series. If I do it will be much later.

First experience with this author. I chose this book because it was about a vintage collector, something I am also interested in. To be honest, I got so much more from this book. An education AND a mystery. A win-win! I am ordering the whole series. I also really like the narrator.

The story is a little slow to start, but I like the premise of the book and enjoyed listening to this one. I'll definitely get the next one in the series.
