Ronnie is an archeologist who works for one of Saffron's companies. She is working at a site that may be where the lost scroll the holds the spell to rebind the warriors is.
Aaron volunteers to go to pose as a helper. He can feel his god wanting to do something because they have not had to battle evil for a year.
Aaron is attracted to Ronnie tight away and her magic feels different to him. He reacts differently to her than any other druid.
Jason inherited Declan's mansion and discovered a hidden book. The book explained everything the Declan knew about the warriors and Deidre. So now Jason is after the warriors. He goes about it differently than any before him by using the drought instead of killing them.

Aaron and Ronnie

The binge listen continues and I can't be happier. Romance, danger, suspense and lots of exciting battles. Magic can be found in many places in Scotland. Ronnie seems to have a knack of find it. As an archeologist she has a way to search without question. One of those that believe in her is Saffron.

The Warriors are still searching for a scroll to bound their gods. They have followed many leads and find themselves needing to be where Ronnie digs. Arran is sent to assist at the site and gain access to what is found. It becomes much more complicated.

Arran and Ronnie are deeply attracted to each other. He wants to protect her, including from herself. She doesn't always listen to reason. She soon finds herself in danger. Her talent could be used to find dangerous objects. The new evil wants those objects. The new evil wants Ronnie.

Many battles occur as he attempts to abduct her. I did love listening to the battles. I found myself ducking fireballs. Lightning rains down in an attempt to distract the enemy. Droughs, with major powers, fight against the warriors. It was touch and go on more than one occasion. A new weapon has the warriors at risk of death. I feared what would happen. I could only hope that Ronnie and Arran would find each other again.

Never mind midnight - it's 3.30 a.m. and I've fought to keep awake.... and won but I just HAD to finish Donna Grant's awesome addition to her Dark Warriors series and what an exciting addition it is. Donna delivers another multi-layered, intense, action packed paranormal tale revolving around a handful of handsome hunky immortal Scottish Warriors who find themselves battling evil in order to save the world, and the love of their lives, before time runs out.

Arran and Ronnie's story has the usual mix of magic, Druids, plot twists, suspense, steamy romantic love scenes, interesting likeable characters but there's also traumatic tension filled hours as you go through the full emotional spectrum with them as they, together with everyone from the MacLeod Castle that we've come to love, battle a new evil enemy who has learnt from other's mistakes and is determined that this time cleverly won world domination will rightfully be his.

All this is expertly delivered by the talented voices of A.E.R. who, not only breathes life, but emotion too, into the many likeable, loveable or just plain evil characters who inhabit the world of the Dark Warriors.

Worth a credit? Donna keeps every new book fresh and boredom free so, for me, it's a delicious YES written in instant whipped cream right across a homemade apple pie Mmmmm yummy !!.

The only issue with this reading is the alarm beeping in chapter 12. very annoying

This is a spin-off of the Dark Sword series and takes place in modern times. The Warriors and Druids are a part of the Dark World. Midnight’s Kiss is the fifth in this new series, all the characters from the Dark Sword are present. This series was read as a part of the Audible Escape package.

Veronica, aka Roni, is an archeologist, unbeknownst to her is a Druid with the power to find buried objects. She finds and releases and ancient evil that has the ability to end magic forever. Arran vows to protect all druids, he has his claws full when he needs to protect Roni from droughs, an ancient evil, and even herself.
