Publisher's summary

In 1977, pregnant Genevieve Russell disappeared. Twenty years later, her remains are discovered and Timothy Gleason is charged with murder. But there is no sign of the unborn child. CeeCee Wilkes knows how Genevieve Russell died, because she was there. And she also knows what happened to the missing infant, because two decades ago she made the devastating choice to raise the baby as her own. Now Timothy Gleason is facing the death penalty, and she has another choice to make: tell the truth, and destroy her family, or let an innocent man die in order to protect a lifetime of lies....

Just glad it's over

I want to preface this review with the fact that I just finished Necessary Lies (my first Diane Chamberlain book) and I enjoyed that one very much.
This book, however, was draining, and full of unlikable characters. Although it was fairly well narrated, and the story line was an interesting concept, I found myself checking the time left, and just wanting it to end.

Captivating!

I love this narrator- her voice really matched the characters in my head.
The story was great! I cried a couple of times and just wanted to keep listening.

Really enjoyed this book!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, it kept me wanting to find out what happened next!

Any additional comments?

As usual with a novel, some of the story seemed a bit far fetched, but it was very interesting and the story dealt with an unusual situation and the emotions of the characters were very believable.

What a great story

Where does The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Close to the top - I loved this book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think it would have to be Ceecee Wilks. I liked how even though she was so naive and innocent she still had strength to do the best she could in the situation.

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the whole book but, if I have to pick a favorite scene it would have to be at the end.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I can't say for reason of spoilers, but it's close to the end.

Any additional comments?

I absolutely loved this book and had a hard time hitting the pause button when I had to go do something. It grabbed me right from the start and never let go.

Slow start but great book

When I first started this book I thought the premise was silly. But it grew on me and I needed to hear how all the characters lives ended.

Not quite as good as I expected from reading other reviews

I think this story had a lot of potential but just fell short. It appears to me that the jumped st lesst one too many sharks.

No surprises here

once the plot is laid out there aren't any surprises or twists but the story is good and moves along. Chris does a good job narrating as the main characters.

Good, just not great.

I would have given this book 4 stars but it was sooooo slow to start and the beginning, while necessary, wasn't very good. But the second half or a little more than that to the end was fantastic leaving the reader with such a good feeling. It reminds us that no matter what life hands you, good can always be found somewhere during the trials. I have always liked Diane chamberlain's writings and I encourage each of you to give her books a read. She is wonderful with family and personal dynamics.
