Beth Venable has seen too much. Witness to a major mob hit, she's placed in protective custody until the trial. But after her third safe house is riddled with bullets, she goes offgrid to save herself. What the FBI can't do, her kinfolk will.
The beautiful but forbidding Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky welcome Beth back, with dirt roads and rustic shacks a world apart from L.A. But her homecoming—even her blissful reunion with strong, silent Ryal Walker—is made bittersweet by the fight she's brought to the clan's doorstep. Hidden in a remote cabin with the man she's always wanted, Beth begins to dream of a new life: her old one. But after so long, with such dangers stalking her…it seems impossible. But love can distill life down to its essence: an elixir of pure hope, nerve—and the will to survive.

"Outstanding!!! From start to finish....loved it!!!"
I always enjoy Sharon Sala - but she outdid herself with this one. What a charming group of characters and the action and romance balanced perfectly. Can't wait for the next one in this series!!
"Just what I was looking for"
Yes, because it held my interest and had a good plot
When family came to her defense against the bad guys in the big fight scene in the mountain
One of them was when she is picked up by the truckers for the first time. I could feel her release at finally going home.
Yep
Salad always delivers for me .
"Sharon Sala does it again, a book to keep!"
Terrific, romantic, thriller!!!! I can' t wait for her next book. If I got stuck on a desert island I would definitely bring all of hers along. Thank goodness for tablets!!!!!
Ryan, he was such a caring man and I loved the way he rallied the kin folk in the mountains to help keep his woman safe. There were so many good characters it was hard to just pick one, I loved the truckers who got Beth away to safety even though they had never met her. I've listened to it 3 times already!
I loved the way she brought the southern accents and ages of the characters to life.
I had a wonderful feeling of satisfaction when I finished. I knew I would be listening again and again.
Be sure and try other Sharon Sala stories, my favorite is THE HEALER

"Over all not up to Sala's previous books"
The narrator was too melodramatic, story was very slow and predictable, and over priced. Would not get any of her short stories again.
