Experience the holidays with the Plain folk and discover the power of second chances in this touching story from the author of the New York Times bestseller, The Bridge of Peace.

Gideon Beiler has loved Mattie Eash since they were children. But when faced with unexpected circumstances, he makes up an excuse to end their engagement. He doesn’t want to lie to her, but he believes that telling Mattie the truth will be more hurtful.

Brokenhearted, Mattie moves from Apple Ridge, Pennsylvania to Ohio, where she pursues her longtime dream of becoming a cake decorator. She finds a new beau—a man offering the secure relationship Gideon has denied her.

When Mattie is forced to return to Apple Ridge, she and Gideon must confront the suffering created by his dishonesty--and address the powerful emotions that continue to bind the two childhood friends.

After Gideon coldly broke her heart, can the warmth of the season revive Mattie’s faith in love?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Definitely I would. I actually was brought to tears during a part in which they discussed people who are chronically ill.

What other book might you compare The Christmas Singing to and why?

The Christmas sleigh. Another Cindy Woodsmall book.

Which scene was your favorite?

The mom tearfully admitted to her daughter that if she could have spared telling her and her dad that she was sick, she would have. She was agreeing with her daughters ex boyfriend who had been fighting cancer and was trying to keep it a secret as not to ruin her life, trying to spare her his grief and allow her tohave a normal life even if it meant without him.

If you could rename The Christmas Singing, what would you call it?

I wouldn't. It was perfect and got do well. Perhaps I would have called it The Sacrifice if I really had to.

Any additional comments?

The narrator Cassandra Campbell is one of the best there is. She makes a great story even better. She brings the characters to life and one really becomes lost in the plot.

Exceptional emotional and very touching story.

There has been such delight to be involved with a story that portrays such emotions, hardships, joys, etc. The book had my mind anticipating the next scene in my mind.

Delight is the best word to describe Cindy Woodsmall’s plots as well as Cassandra Campbell creative narrating of each person. 💛

Good Christmas story

This is a great story of Forgiveness.
I have to say I've never read/heard a story about Amish that had the main character be as angry and sarcastic speaking as Maddie was to Gideon.
But, in the end she was a changed person.

Great story of Forgiveness

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend this to a friend that would enjoy the book for a good story. It isn't steamy or action packed but it is worth reading.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main female character, Maddy Lane. She struggles with her feelings in the story and has a nice way of including the reader in her thoughts.

What aspect of Cassandra Campbell’s performance would you have changed?

I wouldn't change anything.

Was The Christmas Singing worth the listening time?

Definetly worth the time and in the holiday season it was heart warming.

Good read beyond the Christmas holiday
