Publisher's Summary

From the former communications director for the White House and current political media strategist comes a suspenseful and smart novel about the first female president and all the dramas and deceptions she faces, both in politics and in love.

Eighteen Acres, a description used by political insiders when referring to the White House complex, follows the first female president of the United States, Charlotte Kramer, and her staff as they take on dangerous threats from abroad and within her very own cabinet.

Charlotte Kramer, the 45th U.S. president; Melanie Kingston, the White House chief of staff; and Dale Smith, a White House correspondent for one of the networks are all working tirelessly on Charlotte's campaign for re-election. At the very moment when they should have been securing success, though, Kramer's White House implodes under rumors of her husband's infidelity and grave errors of judgment on the part of her closest national security advisor. In an upheaval that threatens not only the presidency but the safety of the American people, Charlotte must fight to regain her footing and protect the the country she has devoted her life to serving.

Eighteen Acres combines political and family drama into one un-pausable novel. It is a smart, juicy and fast-paced read that we're sure fans of commercial women's fiction will fall in total love with.

    Any additional comments?

I bought this book because I liked "It's Classified," and I just didn't get into the plot as I did with the second book. Didn't finish it.

    "Enjoyable"

Enjoyed reading this book. It gave us a look into what it takes to run the White House from a aides prospective. How a president can rise above scandal with the help of the staffers.

    "A Good and Easy Listen."

I really enjoyed this book. It moved along at a quick pace and the narrator really did a good job. The authors inside knowledge of the West Wing was very interesting. I am looking forward to her next book.

"Fast Paced, US Weekly Take on the US Presidency:"

You will not find any tremendous insights with Nicole Wallace's version of a female presidency under-pressure. The scandals are believable, the action exciting, and the story bubble-gum enough to be quite satisfying.

This book is light and easy, and the plot is fast paced and well developed. This book is good satirical fiction, and I enjoyed it beyond my expectations.

There are plenty of great plot twists, and the ending is not so obvious at first.

Crank it up to 3x as the writing is not dense at all.

    "I liked it."

Really enjoyed the story of President Charlotte Kramer, her Chief of Staff Melanie Kingston and television journalist Dale Smith. The story of their intertwined lives was not only enjoyable fiction; it was thought-provoking sociology. Looking forward to the sequel!

    "Lame"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I don't want to insult anyone by suggesting that they would enjoy it.

What does Susan Bennett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

If not for the reader, who was very pleasant, I would never have finished this book.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger that anyone would publish this silly book, sadness that I paid for it and wasted my time listening to it, disappointment that this wasn't some juicy, guilty pleasure read that I was expecting. This was a sad soap opera with nothing redeeming about it. The only original idea the author (?) had was that the majority of political leaders were women. So what? No one really had any political thoughts (other than some sad Republican cliches) and no one conducted business as women. The author should be ashamed of herself for this drivel.

    Any additional comments?

    Don't buy this.

    "Not worth it"

I heard about this book on "The O'Reilly Factor" and have to say the first part I downloaded was ok....the second part did not improve and the ending was so highly improbable and "fairy tale" like it turned me off....listen to something else, not this.

    "Very disappointing!"

I listened to this novel all the way through, in the hopes that the characters or the plot might develop into some kind of depth, but alas...no way.

I loved the idea of a storyline of politics with all women, but Wallace's portrayal of the main women characters is so shallow and "romance novel meek" that it was impossible to believe they had gotten themselves to the powerful positions into which she had written them.

Their reactions to the plot events are so unpolitical AND unprofessional that I just had to laugh! I decided to keep reading to the end, just in case the author had some hidden agenda of character development...but, alas, no...shallow in, shallow out.

Do NOT waste your time or money on this one, it is as gutless and disappointing as most of our political system!!

    "Good Story"

I'd give the story itself 4 stars it's well written and flows well though a little feminine for my taste but this story is indeed about 3 women; Nicole Wallace did a great job for her first novel. The narration on the other hand could've been better.
