This book would be interesting to a preteen. I purchased it after seeing the Motion picturewith my Daughter. The book starts very well. It has a great story line that runs out of gas at the end. This is the RARE time that I must admit the movie was better than the book.

To Much Missing

I don't mind the story, it was a little cliche and the character of Sarah was 2 dimensional and mainly just a tool to prop up the main character. The action scenes were good though and I really came to legitimately care about the character Henri.

The vocal performance was AWFUL though. This guy made all the female characters sound like whiney petulant brats when the words he read implied none of that. This guy nearly made me give up completely on the book because his portrayal of female characters was so bad. I dreaded any scene with a female characters, because his reading of them was so cringey. It really seemed like he viewed these characters as purely 1 dimensional and he portrayed them as such.

Seriously, gag me with a spoon.

I heard good things about this series so I was excited to start it. From the jump the narration is so bad I'm having a hard time sticking with it. The narrator is clearly a lot older than the main character, and his "girl voice" is so bad its like nails on a chalkboard. I may bag it and get a different book.

I think that the narrator is probably an excellent actor, but I think that a lot of the characters came off as very whiny. Also, the dialogue was not great. That is certainly not the narrator’s fault.

Where does I Am Number Four rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've never read many books; however, listening is even less than that. This book is #2 is my relatively short list.

What was one of the most memorable moments of I Am Number Four?

The moment that the book is 1000 times better than the horribly made movie.

What about Neil Kaplan’s performance did you like?

He did well for the male voices.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

It would remain the same title "Number Four".

Although the male voice actor did well with the male voices, I didn't like how he sounded for the female voices. I wish some of these books hired a male and female, when necessary.

If the reader went any faster in some places you wouldn't know what he was saying. Even though I realize there is a lot going on and its used for emphasis Im sure there is a better way than yelling and rushing words. Love the story, not the telling of it so much.

Interesting story line. Great performance by the reader. But the writing and wording is like an 80s Saturday morning cartoon writing.
I found myself offended by the girl character because she was so flat and her character was a dime story quality. But as long as i reminded myself it was just a fun ride i was able to enjoy the book.

This is a good story, but it is written in an odd person and tense, It makes the telling of the story awkward. It’ s almost as if the anonymous author was experimenting with ways of storytelling. It could have been told in a better way and earned 5 stars.

I am not sure if it is the wrong choice of narrator or the performer’s poor choice of voice. The voice of the first person storytelling is too mature for a 15 year old young man.
