Critic reviews

"To solve his own demise, Stiles must travel between the two realities, each abounding with the expected confusions and unexpected plot twists for which Anthony is famous. An artful blending of SF and fantasy clichés and situations, Split Infinity shows Piers Anthony at the top of his ingenious game(s)." (Amazon.com review)

Not a classic, yet remembered fondly.

I first read this book over twenty years ago, I think. I was a teenager and all my friends loved it.

It was one of the staples of teenage sci-fi reading in the late eighties, such was Donaldson, Eddings and Fiest. Piers Anthony is the lesser of these four.

It is entertaining, and the story spans over several books. I started listening to book 4, which is new to me, and immediately felt it betrayed the first three.

Read this forty years ago and a mesmerising as I remembered it. While at that time I read the original first three novels, I will now finish the entire series.

Interesting story, great narration.

Protagonist is a person with integrity, needed commodity right now. Narrator does a great job of capturing the emotions of the characters without being cheesy. I read this book many years ago and I’m enjoying listening to it because there are so many subtle details the author included to cause the reader to think about human decisions. He discusses humanity in the same way that Star Trek does with the character Data. With A.I. becoming a big part of this century, The authors intriguing inquiry is even more relevant today than when the book was first written.

Over 30 years old and still yields modern interest

Great story leading into future books. The technology aspect is very interesting mixed with fantasy. The books holds my attention.

An somewhat entertaining book...

What did you like best about Split Infinity? What did you like least?

The book was well performed and it was an interesting split of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Though the main character seemed to be both too perfect and completely helpless at times. Not one of the best Piers Anthony books I ever enjoyed.

Has Split Infinity turned you off from other books in this genre?

Nope

What about Traber Burns’s performance did you like?

Traber Burns did an excellent job of voicing all the characters with various voices so you could easily differentiate between characters. This made it seem like a one man play more than an audio-book.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes

reliving the classics.

Reading some classic Sci-Fi. I may consider the rest if the series..this one was pretty good...not as predictable as many I have read lately. The living of dual lives, in dual dimensions. Nice...

Interesting Worlds -- that require brains

Two very different worlds, kept apart by, well a secret. One would seems to to be a strange sci-fi world, the other a fantasy world. The rules are different. And they were connected - hence if you live in both worlds you have to keep your whits about you. Sci-Fi, Fantasy requiring some Gray Matter!
