Publisher's summary

The Gump phenomenon continues!

Forrest Gump is back!

The lovable man for all ages, who captured America's heart in the #1 best-selling novel Forrest Gump and in the blockbuster film, returns in the long-awaited sequel to the book hailed by Larry King as "the funniest novel I have ever read." A little older, and wiser in his own unique way, he is still running through the kaleidoscopic events of our times -- and straight into the age of greed and instant gratification known as the 1980s.

When Gump & Co. begins, the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. has gone bust and Forrest is flat broke, sweeping floors in a New Orleans strip joint and trying to raise his son, little Forrest, who needs his father more than ever. As always in Forrest's easy-come-easy-go life, a change in the weather is never far off...and when the opportunity to play championship football comes his way once more, Forrest is back in the limelight and in the money.

Forrest's remarkable, touching, and utterly comic odyssey has just begun: in store for him is his own dubious recipe for adding life to New Coke; an encounter with Ollie North; and a chance yet again to unwittingly twist the nose of history.

The Rollicking Sequel to the # 1 New York Times Bestseller Forrest Gump.

So good!!!

Some stuff did not make sense but an AMAZING Sequel! Forrest goes through bad and good times and this sequel has it! But what didn’t make sense was Jenny died with someone else?! Jenny died in forrest’s home and she was buried under their tree not in a cemetery! The book was still great!

Disappointing

Would you try another book from Winston Groom and/or Will Patton?

Don't think so.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Screwtape Letters

What three words best describe Will Patton’s performance?

It was OK.

What character would you cut from Gump & Co.?

The New Coke inventor.

Any additional comments?

If you've read the original book you know it is considerably different than the movie. It almost seemed as if this follow up was written to capitalize on the success of the movie. It was just tossed together with little flow to any kind of story line. Gump is almost a cross between the original book character (really a bit of a jerk) and the movie character (an unassuming good guy). Seemed like the author couldn't decide if he wanted him to continue as the book character or the movie character. Disappointing.

Sad take off from the original Forrest Gump movie

When l saw this I assumed it was written with the same take from the movie. NOTHING could be further from the truth.
With all the cursing and bad plots..... even bringing Jenny back just is not in line with the Gump movie.

Would definitely not recommend this book.

Not As Good

First I must explain I unknowingly bought abridged version. I wasn’t looking at the time to listen to and figured it was whole book. That might be why I did not enjoy as much. There doesn’t seem to be an unabridged version of this on Audible. I felt that the author tried too hard to keep Gump involved in so many historical settings and it came off as sloppy. It sounded amateurish in a way. Different than first book. Plus it was written after the movie and maybe he was trying to mesh the worlds. Anyway, did not enjoy as much as first, but maybe the unabridged would be better.

A Sad Disappointment

Words cannot describe how bad this book was. If you are thinking it will be a continuation of the movie Forrest Gump, your in for a major let down. Do yourself a favor, save your money and buy a book worth listening to.

Unbelevable Waist of Time

What disappointed you about Gump & Co.?

This story was completly unbelevable. It doeas not line up with the movie so if you plan on waisting yor time with this book you should read Forest Gump first. Both books do not line up with the movie and whoever was the screenwriter for the movie is genius!

This Audiobook was Abridged

FIRST! Of course, this book is not a continuation of the movie. The movie was from the original book. Hollywood had to change some parts to make it more audience friendly.
It's a continuation of the original book Forest Gump.
I READ Gump & Co years ago.
So was excited to see it as an audiobook.
Nowhere in the information on this book did it say anything about it being an ABRIDGED copy/recording of the book.
Which is what ticked me off.
Like I said, It's been YEARS ago since I read the book. Around 10 or so.
So, I'm unsure what was left out. I know everything to do with Little Forest joining his father, Lt Dan, and the orangutan (Sue) as hobos riding box cars was cut along with everything about the pig farm. Providing cheap electricity and blowing pig poop all over an entire town was cut.
If they cut that, I'm sure they cut more.
Hope this is helpful.
