Publisher's summary

It began with six stones.

From the deserts of Israel to the tsunami-lashed coasts of Japan, from the steppes of Mongolia to the most mysterious island on Earth - this is what we have come to expect from Matthew Reilly: stupendous action, white-knuckle suspense, heroes to cheer for, and an adventure beyond imagination. Strap yourself in and hold on tight as he unleashes his biggest and fastest adventure yet, The 5 Greatest Warriors.

When we last left Jack West Jr., he was plummeting into a fathomless abyss and his quest to save the world from impending Armageddon appeared doomed.

But all hope is not lost.

After an astonishing escape, Jack regroups with his trusty team. Racing to rebuild the final pieces of the fabled "Machine", they discover an ancient inscription containing a rhyme about five mysterious unnamed warriors - great historical figures whose knowledge will be vital to unlocking the secrets of the Machine and its long-lost "pillars". But the ancients have hidden their secrets well, and with each pillar bestowing an incredible power upon its holder, their pursuit has attracted the attention of other forces from around the world - some who want to rule it and others who want to see it destroyed.

With enemies coming at him from every side and the countdown to doomsday rapidly approaching, Jack and his team had better move fast. Because they are about to find out what the end of the world looks like.

Thank you may I have another...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audiobook to anyone who enjoys a fact paced action adventure where the heroes have their faults but despite this they do what they do for all of man-kind. This book best would best fit with people who not critical about the fictional way people can do extraordinary things.

What does Steven Crossley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His ability to put an attitude to the voice each character even more so if you read the first two novels. His voicing made the audio version of this book fly and enjoyable

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This is real a book that you have just read and not think to yourself, Really?. This is not suppose to be a Dan Brown or Vince Flynn book. Its a fast in your face action book where people do things that are totally impossible and the story gets wilder and wilder with each new book. if you not into this type of book then look elsewhere.

A Bit of a Letdown

Would you try another book from Matthew Reilly and/or Steven Crossley?

I loved Reilly's early books and liked the first Jack West novel, so I'll keep reading/listening.

What was most disappointing about Matthew Reilly’s story?

There were lots of problems with the story: the ancient mysteries that have stood the test of time were all solved very quickly and with zero effort. The plot was repetitive with the bad guys just narrowly beating the good guys to the punch over and over and over. Many details, including the "big surprise" at the end were very predictable.

Which scene was your favorite?

As always with Reilly there were plenty of good action scenes. No single scene stood out.

Was The 5 Greatest Warriors worth the listening time?

Yes, but just barely.

Any additional comments?

If you've never tried Reilly, begin with Ice Station or Temple. Don't start with the Jack West books.

Super Jack always blows my mind

We love Matthew Riley's characters in his Super Jack Sagas. We can't wait for another one. Always action, far fetched but Sooooo much fun.

Love this series

Actually, I love all of Matthew Reilly’s books.

I just wish more of them were available on audible. And I can’t get over how I’ve come across two of his audio books have been abridged! It was very annoying to see the book before this one was abridged. There is no way I’d ever pay for an abridged book.

Predictable but fun

Overall, fun listen but very predictable in the story line. The ending is exactly where you expect to be left when you started the story.

Language Unacceptable

Really have liked Matthew Reilly’s. books. This one just does not do it for me. Got disgusted with so much profanity and just gave up listening to it. Would never recommend it to anyone.

Great.

love these stories, great adventure and lots of action, with awesome details of historic elements. but I geuss it's a pet peav... Steven Crossley needs to learn the difference between the letter 'O' (Oow) and the number '0' (zero). When he was telling the timing's of event, he would say 'Ooow six oow oow' made me so mad, not trying to be a grammer nazi. otherwise great story.
