Captain Kirk, facing retirement and the end of his adventurous career, accepts the offer of a mysterious woman to undertake a voyage to an uncharted planet, where a serious threat to the fragile peace between the Federation and the Klingons may be brewing. There he also finds a nearly irresistible temptation -- a chance to recapture his faded youth.© and (P)1995 Paramount Pictures, All Rights Reserved; AUDIOWORKS Is an Imprint of Simon & Schuster Audio Division, Simon & Schuster Inc. But not a great one either. My issue with this (and it is mostly one of personal taste)is that it is very character-centric, specifically the Kirk Character, which I find a bit tiring. While the plot progresses nicely, it still seems a little heavy on the examination of inner workings of this "great hero", and tends to trump the story a bit. However, as I said, this is mainly my personal taste. It's a good story though, especially if you are a ST fan

Not a bad Star Trek story....

This is a great dramatization. The sound effects are superb! Chekov's Russian accent was a little of, but it did not detract from the enjoyment of this mini audiodrama.

Shatner is the coolest man on the planet.

This story by Shatner is interesting mainly because if takes place in STOS time and fits in well with the TV show. The story plays out like many ST novels and works well with Shatner's reading.

As a fan of STOS novels I have been wanting to read Shatner's work for a while, and this book did not disappoint me.

An Interesting ST Story

The narration by William Shatner puts this and the others to follow in the series , over the top , an awesome audio book,
I hope Mr Shatner will narrate the last book in the seris, "starfleet academy" following captains peril

A must for anyone who enjoys star trek tos
