The Four Agreements is about taking back our personal power by being authentic and by adhering to our true selves. The four agreements are: 1) Be impeccable in your word, 2) Don't take anything personally, 3) Don't make assumptions, and 4) Always do your best. While simple, these agreements are anything but easy. Ruiz encourages readers to practice these agreements everyday and forgive ourselves when we are not perfect. The effort is what's most important. This book is a quick read (or listen) and should be reread repeatedly if you truly desire to keep your agreements with yourself.

I am so glad I picked up this book! My life had fallen off track, lost in a huge slump of depression. The message in this book helped me rise above my own harsh criticism and stop being the victim. Now I focus on each day, being the very best I can be without judging myself, always striving to keep each of the very important four agreements.

The Four Agreements is a classic and almost necessary book to read for anyone 15-55. Every agreement is applicable to life and relationships. After listening to this, I reflected and noted all of us violate at least one of these agreements and often. Perhaps because no one is aware they are doing it. It's almost addicting the way it sneaks up behind you and whispers on your shoulder to (for example) take things personally. Now becoming aware of this agreement I have made with myself, I can move forward more boldly and reject that whisper to life a simpler life, free of the tether weighing me down. This book truly is amazing. I have never met a single person who did not get something out of it. The narrator is also perfect for this book and honestly should narrate any nature documentary; I'd watch them all!

Though nothing beats a paperback book, the narrator’s voice is a very pleasant one to walk you through this book.
Don Miguel is one of my favorite authors, the Toltec wisdom is brought to you with such loving kindness, it’s almost as he’s your loving grandfather or father talking to you..
