    "Great Writing"

This is the first sci-fi series that I've read. I went through all three books in this series in about 4 weeks.

One of the best things about this series is Anderson's ability to bring the worlds and charcaters to life with believeable conflict and plot lines.

Warning...he ends each novel with a cliff hanger, which is madening now that book 4 won't be published for a few months. Book 5 won't be out for another year and book 6 in two years. Ick! I'm not a patient person and I can't wait to find out what happens to the characters.

    Is definitely worth the time.

"Fun-Fun-Fun; Saga of Seven Suns is Fun!"

Anyone who has loved Robert Heinlein, Ben Bova, Spyder Robinson, Andre Norton, Timothy Zahn, Bill Smith, Brian Daley, A.E. Van Vogt and too many others to remember to mention will love Kevin J. Anderson's Saga of the Seven Sun Series. His character development and plot twists keep the books unpredictable, the universe he has created is interesting, and the stories come to life as you read or listen.

I will rate every book available on this web site in this series as 5 stars for the same reason, so will not restate this or the written evaluation I added for A Forest of Stars, part of this series.

I highly encourage Audible to add Books 4, 5, and 6 as soon as possible so that its listeners can follow the schemes, characters, and enemy introduced in Book one to an ending of sorts.

Kevin J. Anderson's Book 7, Metal Swarm, not listed as "Book 7," continues the story of these same races, planets, empires, etc., and will be released on audio in December 2007. I hope that audible will add this one to its libray ASAP.

    "But wait a minute..."

I've stuck with this series so far, but just barely. I found the universe represented here to be interesting and inventive, and I liked many of the characters.

My main complaint is the many, many holes in the plot that leave you saying, "But wait a minute. That doesn't make sense because..." And I'm not talking about minor quibbles. I'm talking about major parts of the plot. For example, if the Mage Imperator of the Ildirans retained the memory of the ancient war and how his race was almost exterminated by it, why didn't he stop the humans from deploying the torch, which would surely reignite the war? If the wentils can make a ship for Jess Tamblyn to fly, why do they need him at all? Why don't they fly their own ship and seed the new worlds themselves? And speaking of Jess Tamblyn, if he could be inhabited and transformed by the wentils, why would touching other humans supposedly be fatal for them? And why does everyone keep saying that the existence of the hybrid child of the Mage Imperator and the green priest vindicated a heinous forced breeding progam, when said child was not a product of said program?

After awhile, so many inconsistencies become a constant irritant.

Another complaint is the great amount of filler in this book. The first 15 minutes is a summary of the first 2 books. After that, there are constant interruptions to restate things from the other books, and sometimes to restate things from this book. It speaks of sloppy editing to me.

What kept me going with this book is that I thought it was a trilogy, and I had to make it to the end. But now that I know there are several more, I'm ready to call it quits. I'd like to know how it ends, but my patience has its limits.

    "Quite enjoyable!"

I've read quite a bit of SciFi and Fantasy and this series is one of the more enjoyable to read.

Please audible get the rest of the series (book 4, 5, 6 possibly) - they are already on audio but not on audible.com!

    "Need some closure"

I have really enjoyed this and the previous books written by the author. I am dismayed only by his inability to close the section of the story out. The story line abruptly stops and starts in the next book. I have read books he wrote with Brian Herbert and those had plots that climaxed before the next book. I understand this is a series but there could be more closure for the sections that the books present. I do not mind reading follow on books, but I do not like being forced to because the story in immediately cut off.

    "Warning Warning Warning"

Book 3 ends like you are at the end of a chapter. When I came to the end I didn't realize it was the end of the book. I thought I listened to the downloads in the wrong order. When I read the reviews about the books dragging on and not knowing what's happening for years, I thought the reviewers were just being a little critical. Now I wish they were more critical, like, hey dude, the author is going to cut you off like in a soap opera episode. I thought book one, started off slow, reading like a history of some lost civilization. Books 2 and 3 are much better and worth the listen...until the author drops you. Now, I will wait until all 8 books are out in three years before picking up this story again. It seems authors have discovered a fine living writing 10 book sagas. At least some authors throw you a bone by providing a little closure a the end of each book.

    "Great Book"

Great series of books. You need to read the first two before this one. Can hardly wait until the next in the series is out.

"An Excellent Series worth a listen"

I'm a BIG science fiction fan, and I can truthfully say that this is one of the best books that I've come across. Kevin Anderson has an interesting writing style with VERY long books, but short chapters. (I haven't read any other of Kevin Anderson's books, so I don't know if all of his books are this long or if it is specific to this series.) The short chapters keep the action going and keep things interesting.

    "Incomplete Series"

Was really getting into this series. Many parallel interlocking plots. Problem is that the who series is about 9 books but Audible only has the first three. So just as I was getting into it, I went to download the next and guess what, not available on Audible. Of note, it exists in audio as it is listed on Amazon.

"FULL RETRACTION OF MY LAST REVIEW"
What made the experience of listening to Horizon Storms the most enjoyable?

This is a great series, This is a long series, this is a very complex and deep series of books. I made some back handed compliments on the last book and fully retract anything negative I said.

Switching voice talent a few books in was a hard pill for me to swallow but by the last book, the one I just finished today, I was fully committed to the work of George Guidall and realized my inability to adapt to change that was for the better may affect how other people view the series. I want to make sure anyone who reads this review knows that the voice talent is excellent and the author is a magician in balancing so many well developed characters and intersecting plot lines. Kevin J. Anderson is a master. This series is exceptional. Thank you.
