Justin Finn, at age three, looks like any other child. Bright, joyful, sweet; an innocent toddler to his unsuspecting parents and to all who know him. But his face, one day, will be the exact match of the cold-blooded killer of whom he is a perfect genetic replica. Can a 3-year-old have a past? Where does evil come from?
What happens to the soul when we die? What are you duplicating when you duplicate a human life?
Cast of Shadows is a spectacularly original, hair-raising novel about the fate of a little boy brought into the world to solve a crime. Relentlessly gripping, profoundly unsettling, and visionary, it introduces a major new suspense novelist.
The unabridged version of Cast of Shadows will be available in April.

"Guilfoile's engrossing debut novel takes a high-concept look at the age-old but still provocative question of nature vs. nurture....The novel as a whole is rich and involving." (Publishers Weekly)

"Still waiting for the unabridged version!"
I really want to listen to this one- but am waiting on the unabridged version (supposedly due out four months ago).
"I read this book unabridged..."
This is a fascinating novel, set in a near, believable future. The characters are well defined and convincing. The plot twists are compelling -- clear until the end.. (don't stop!) This is a VERY satisfying read and should be offered in unabridged form.. Check out the narration before you get the audio ..
"nice read"
but PLEASE get that unabridged version out here! Wonderful characters and story, but I so much prefer the unabridged, please get it out so I can hear it all!
"Worth a listen - Excellent Narrator"
I think I would have to agree that the unabridged might be better. The story takes some big jumps. However, it's easy to follow so it's still a good story.
I really liked the concept of this book and I think the author did a good job with making it believable. There are a number of good plot twists and the narration is excellent. There is one segment of the story that revolves around an online game which is this virtual world and we find the "bad guys" and the "good guys" both playing this game and they stumble upon one another. I thought that was a little cheesy which is why I gave it 3 stars. Otherwise I would have given it 4.
Even with the abridged I found it enjoyable especially because of good plot twists.
