Those red socks - with Sophie's business card neatly tucked inside - are practically all that's found after runner William Harrington's shredded corpse turns up in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, the victim of a mysteriously dramatic death by polar bear. With an unerring nose for a good story, Sophie heads north to Alaska.
What she doesn't realize is that her father's infamous reputation has spread even to the far reaches of Prudhoe Bay. Sophie's assigned a bodyguard - Jack MacAlister, a sexy FBI agent who grudgingly takes the assignment while recovering from an on-duty injury. But they will soon be fighting more than growing passion.

"Garwood never lets you down"
This the second book in this series. just like the first book (murder list) it fast paced ,funny and touching you cant go wrong with a Garwood
"Really liked the narration on this one :-)"
The writing was up to par. But I think it's the narrator that really pulls me into audiobooks. I thought this one did a really good job with the voices. I could tell who was speaking by the way she did the voice without even having to listen to the narration to know. Was it just me or was she even doing an Alaskan accent for the characters from Alaska? :-)
I didn't realize the sexual scenes would be so graphic but I liked this one.
"Can't wait for the next one!!!!!!!!"
She is such a great author and will always be one of my favorite authors.... all of her books are wonderful....
"Good Book, Slow Narration."
I give the story five stars as it hasn't been since Mercy that I've been able to read a complete contemporary Garwood book. The voices given to the characters were very good, they just needed to be brought together with more life and enthusiasm. We listen to audio books to "see" a story in our head, not to just have it read to us with each word on the page spoken aloud. Overall a decent listen though.
"An enjoyable read!"
This book had a bit a of weak storyline - however does deliver overall. I love the tough women that Julie writes about. They are self-sufficient and ballsy. Waiting for the next Garwood book!
"not what I expected"
reading the book blurb didn't tell me anything about what the book really was like. The part about her quitting her job and taking a job at a small paper happened sometime before the book starts. Then the things that happen are kind of unbelievable, however they are entertaining. so if you don't care that the book isn't actually about what the blurb says and you want to listen to something kind of "out there" this could be a good book for you. I'd say it was entertaining even though it's hard to remember anything about it and I finished it two days ago.
"There's a reason why she is my favorite author."
She's right on top again with her latest book. Adventure, romance, great!
"A very good listen"
I enjoyed this book very much. The narrator did a great job and I liked Sophie's overall outlook on life. It was a bit slow in spots, but I never had the urge to fast forward - I toughed it out and am glad I did. Enjoyed all the characters very much and the plot of the story kept me interested and wondering to the end. Definitely give it a listen.
"Great narration"
Good, easy listen. Loved the narrator on this book. The story moves along well, little bit of mystery, little bit of action and suspense, little bit of romance- easy to follow.
I'd buy another book from this author and narrator.
