Specials: Uglies, Book 3

Yes, but not for a long while. Its a great adventure!

Well the main character kinda ahs to be.

She did good voices for males.

It made me laugh at times!

This book was packed full of action. It left me wanting more!

Scott Westerfeld's Uglies was a creative, unique book. I really enjoyed it and Pretties was almost as good. Specials, however, was drawn out and boring. With a cliff hanger at end of every book you are being sucked into buying the next. I, however, am bowing out on the 4th book. This book was a lot of nothing, dramatic events not really dramatic and it was soooo short with another cliff hanger teasing you to buy the last book. No Thanks.

Uglies was a great, unique book. Although he and his publisher might like the $ coming from having 4 books in a series, I would have actually finished the series if it was in, say, 2 books.Specials was boring and not worth the $ so I'm not wasting more $ on Extras. Thus, I won't be recommending this series to others because it became more about dragging out the story into multiple books than keeping with the integrity and quality of The Uglies.

Voice is fine for main character, all other characters have the same voice which can be distracting and a bit grating.

Another gem from Scott Westerfield with Specials. Tally continues to be instrumental in change within her society. I still feel as though Tally is not quite the heroine she is made out to be in the story -she is pushed and forced into things throughout the book instead of being the fore-runner, and then she is given credit for being the instrument of change- although in this book she is more directly responsible for the decisions that cause all the excitement. I love what the book implies about where we are heading with our treatment of the planet, but this book is not as harsh about the overuse of cosmetic plastic surgery as the rest of the series but that follows the story line to the next reasonable conclusion. Its nice to see a different city and get a little more background on the interaction between cities too. It was a great listen and a great story and I continued to the next book also with excitement. Scott Westerfield has become a writer that I would definitely look for in my reading and listening future.

We read the first 2 books, and this one was just kind of drawn out and painful. We had to read it because it was a series right?? Honestly not worth it and we will probably stop here in the series.

This is my least favorite book in the series because I really disliked the characters of Shay and Tally through most of this book. And I did not like the outcome for the character of Zane.

I was glad that it was the last book in the series.

This is a really clever series!
