Publisher's summary

Disgraced detective turned private investigator, Ray Clancy, left the force with a case unsolved. Finding the killer was no longer his problem, but it still haunted him. How long would he survive the frustration of not knowing before he gave into the compulsion of his nature to solve the crime?

Server Andrew Shay existed where he didn't feel he belonged, living behind the guise of a costume. Yet it paid the bills, and he refused to complain about the little things in life. One night he returned home from work to find his roommate dead and the killer still there. Afraid and alone, his life spiraled, and he didn't know what to do. Could a detective at his core and a scared young man join forces to bring down the killer in their midst?

Loved the book

Great book! There was the right amount of suspense, drama and angst to keep me hooked.

Not that great

Can romance novels stop with the copaganda!!!! The legal system is not equal, just, nor is it set up to protect anyone but rich people. Millions of cases go unsloved each year. Please to stop glorifying and perpetuating these myths. You're writers, use your 🤬 imaginations 🙄. WW writers please stop using "slaver driver", its gross and violent.
The narration was mid, nothing that great and in parts it took away from story immersion.

I really enjoyed this!

The narrators were excellent. I love both of their styles.

The story was great overall but seemed to drag just a bit in the middle and picked back up towards the end. Though, what I did not like was the big showdown with the bad guy at the end. It made zero sense and was a letdown.

Just okay

I liked the first half much better than the second. Some of the story didn’t make much sense towards the end. Why make the killer someone we don’t know?

What a story

I loved how dark and gritty this story was. Through all this there was a shining light that was Ray and Andy’s budding relationship. This book had me on my toes the whole time trying to figure out who was who.
I enjoyed the dual narration of Kirt Graves and Tor Thom.

A Serial Killer in the Neighborhood

The Hunt is a crime/police drama/murder mystery with MM romance. The team of dual narrators kept the tension high, and the story moving forward, never lagging.

I love Davidson King's Haven Hart series, and was eager to try this story. It is every bit as well done, but The Hunt is shown from a law enforcement perspective instead of through a mafia family's eyes.

Young gay men have been targeted by a killer who tortures and mutilates his victims. It appears that the police are uncaring about the number of men who have died. One detective stands out, and the killer finds a way to keep him from pursuing active leads.

The story was engaging from the very first page. J. M. Dabney and Davidson King work very well together. Enjoy the mystery.

Fabulous

I became a fan of this narrator in previous works. When you read the story it’s awesome add in the voice and it’s a new level of wow.
