Publisher's summary

An idyllic Hawaiian wedding held the promise of a wonderful future for handsome, athletic Chris Northon, an airline pilot, a confirmed bachelor-turned-devoted family man; and Liysa, an acclaimed surf photographer, loving mother, and aspiring Hollywood screenwriter. But few, including Chris, had seen Liysa's other side - her controlling behavior and dark moods, her insatiable hunger for money and property. And no one anticipated the fatal outcome of a family camping trip in an Oregon forest.

Liysa soon revealed herself as a victim of domestic abuse that culminated at the campsite, where she shot Chris in self-defense. But crime scene evidence led detectives to wonder if Liysa was a killer, not a victim. Her controversial trial stunned all who thought they knew her. A lifetime of sociopathic manipulations and lies had been expertly hidden behind her façade of perfection - as was her rage to destroy any obstacle to her ultimate happiness, even if it was the man she vowed to love forever.

Curses ...Foiled Again...

Excellent portrait of a bipolar sociopath. I'm glad she overly lied and did herself in

Evil is alive

As usual I enjoy Ann Rule books! I like that you got to know everyone personally and truth about the victim, to everyone involved in the Trial! A true psychopath!

A mesmerizing read!

I enjoy Ann Rule books immensely. “Enjoy” wouldn’t be how I would describe my experience listening to this one, but I was mesmerized. I looked forward to walking the dog, driving around, or any other time I could listen to this incredible true story. I was upset & frustrated that such a sick, selfish, evil woman could get away with what she did for so long. But she finally got her due and I was especially glad that she was a big part of her undoing. This is a wild tale of a lying, scheming, manipulating woman not being as brilliant as she thought she was. And that made any upsetting parts worth it!

infuriating

of the Ann Rule books I've read, i don't know of any that were as infuriating as this one. This woman and her disgusting behavior are disturbing. But to listen to how she destroyed this man's life, and then murdered him, and the horrible things she said about him... all because she has zero self esteem and wanted him to be as miserable as she was. Maddening.

But it's well researched, as Ann's books always are, and the narrator does a first rate job.

A great crime story

An excellent account of an unforgivable crime. I would have enjoyed it more if the narrator had pronounced the Hawaiian words correctly. Very distracting .

Wanted it to be over

Listened in its entirety but grew tired of this evil woman. Well written and performed. Will likely take a break from crime stories for a bit. Personal experience is that it did not bring any positive substance to my mind!

murderer

that psycho narcissist got away with murder. no doubt about it. a little slap on the hand and on she goes to do whatever horrible twisted tales she wants to. It makes my blood boil! she was no more an abused woman than I am. That in it's self just boils my blood. There are real woman out there that are physically and mentally abused by their husband, and they have an up hill climb to get away from it! it's narcissists like this beast that make it even harder for real woman to get help. I sincerely wish they would of locked her up for the rest of her miserable life!
