Publisher's summary

If that man calls her one more time....

So what if Gabe Campos is a model-dating billionaire who gets Keisha Jacobs hotter than a Ferrari's engine on the straightaway? He keeps pushing her to sell her family's furniture business, but she'll never give in - not unless she wants to give her father a second heart attack.

All Gabe should be thinking about is how he'll finally get revenge on the man who killed his father. But when he meets the man's daughter, Keisha, instead of focusing on destroying Jacobs Fine Furnishings, he can't get her warm-whisky voice out of his mind.

Forced by a snow storm to spend the night together, their passion ignites. The next day, however, it's back to business. The only way Keisha can save her family is to win a bet with the billionaire. But neither realized their hearts are part of the bargain....

Contains mature themes.

Short and Void of Point

This one was basically background noise because it lacked a point and was too short to have any real character development or substance. It is my first introduction to this authors work and I wasn't impressed. The best thing about this one was definitely Wesleigh's narration.

To Rushed

Would have liked this book more if she hadn't made it a short story. I would have loved to see their love develop a little more. It would have been an awsome book.

Enjoyable

Narrator Wesleigh Siobhan is a new to me and I found her voice easy to listen to. This book was a quick listen and it felt rushed and that did not do justice to the story. It could have been so much more if it had been longer, but then that is only my opinion.

This is Gabe Campos and Keisha Jacobs story, and it was complicated. Gabe is set on revenging the death of his father and by purchasing Keisha’s Jacobs Fine Furnishings family business he will succeed.

When fate throws them together sparks ignite. The story was entertaining but I felt that the depth was missing at times and could have been more.

Short

I don't think I'm a fan of the short romance story. I wasn't invested in the story.

Redemption

Good to see the truth accepted with grace and forgiveness lead to love.

Short but sweet

This is a quick book that you can listen to in a day. I really liked it. It was jampacked full of drama, emotion, and lots of romance.

Umm…okay for a quick listen but has issues

This book definitely has its issues. Rushed, underdeveloped, the writing felt like it tried too hard to tell us the black characters were black.

The book jumps around a bit, maybe bc it’s so short. The pacing and scene jumps were confusing.

I chose this because:

A. I was excited to find a book without a ww romantic lead (so hard to find on audible)
B. Was in the mood for a business /romance/ enemies to lovers vibe
C. It’s short length

After just finishing a very long book, the length did attract me at first. But, sadly, it wasn’t a sweet spot, it was too short.

Overall, cheesiness aside, I think this had potential…with some editing, some development and maybe a few more chapters, and more time for the romance and chemistry to build, it could have been a better book.

Also what bothered me A LOT was the description in the book for Keisha didn’t match the girl on the cover art…she seems biracial maybe? Or really light skinned?

In the book, Keisha is described as black with an Afro…skin brown / mocha …and again her Afro is mentioned often. So, yeah, that mismatch kept bothering me. I really wish they put a woman on the cover who better matched the book description. It’s like a movie giving us a light skinned mixed girl with loose curls in place of a richer toned one with an Afro or kinky hair (as we know always happens).

I think I’ll give the author another try, I didn’t hate this, but hope the next thing I try is better. If you ever update the art, please make Keisha look the way she’s described in the book.

Great narrator!

The narrator was terrific on all female and female voices. I was disappointed in this presentation carrying Avery Flynn’s name which was mostly overly explicit sex scenes, very little story. I expected one of Flynn’s hilarious, relaxing stories.
