Publisher's summary

"My true crime podcasts didn't prepare me for this planet."

Reba

I consider myself a true-crime expert. Never let yourself be transported to a second location. Kidnapping 101, right? Well, not on an alien planet apparently. I escaped the pack of blue aliens on hover bikes only to fall victim to even worse aliens. I must have missed the danger hierarchy memo during Outer Space Abduction Orientation. My only hope is the blue alien who tracked me down, but now he's a prisoner too, and he's not too happy with me....

Ward

Everything is going according to plan until the loud yellow-haired human decides to leap off the back of my bike and get herself taken by the slimy Rizars. My leader's order is simple: Retrieve the human. His orders aren't to desire her with every beat of my heart, but that's exactly what happens. Now we're on the run together, trying to survive. One thing is certain: She's mine, and I'll protect her until my last breath.

Contains mature themes.

A little better

This book was better than the previous book; Heather’s voice is a bit scratchy sounding and hard to take seriously; kinda amusing. Jeffrey is great with characters; on to the next book!

…and we’re back to popcorn goodness

“…and okay, he was handsome. Which made me feel crazy to even think that. But hey, I might’ve had a thing for Predator fan-fiction in my heyday.”
After a book 2 that didn’t work for me, this book got back to the buttery popcorn, B-movie goodness that I loved in book 1. This is alien romance, so I’m not expecting Wuthering Heights. But, I still need adventure, fun, and feisty gals in order to sell the sexy times. Reba has moxie and a snarky inner monologue that kept a grin on my face and helped me to forgive the author’s writing quirks.

“Shut up Reba! Shut up you crazy, horny, M0F0.”
One quirk that I wish the author would address is her love of F bombs. Selective bombing is funny. Unnecessary, too frequent bombing in casual conversation is just low-class. Most exasperating is having the aliens throw down F bomb catch phrases that only Earthlings should be uttering, like a Drixonian saying “it was a cluster-fleck” or “mother flecker;” Either use the real word or come up with new flecking catch phrases to match the new curse word.

“Something told me he was the only thing between me and their leader eating my leg like a drumstick.”
Another quirk is the author’s love of oral. I’m not opposed to oral, but there’s at least four scenes.where the mouth action gets all the details and then the rest is wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am over it a not-hot minute. Is it weird that the nooky parts are my least favorite parts in this series? I don’t find them terrible, but they don’t bring the heat like hawt alien nooky should.

“The situation was past critical and had descended into OMG we’re going to die!”
Thank goodness for the fun, as Reba isn’t just feisty, she’s a fighter. Yes, she sometimes makes the wrong call, like escaping out of the frying pan and into the fire. But, at one point, she uses her brains and rescues Ward, aka “Growly,” and doesn’t go down the tired trope of believing the worst in her guy at the slightest miscommunication. Yeppers. Book 3 won me back and I’ll move onto number 4.

Random question: Is it just me, or when the aliens refer to their mate, does it sound like
mate = the C word? I don’t have have the written book.
I think mate = “kahnt” … but that’s not what I hear in Audible.

Random question 2: Ward? The Drixonian’s name is Ward?! And not even one joke about it?
Oh, the missed opportunity!

Yes!

Reba was annoying at first but once she started to chill out, I started to like her. Ward makes me giggle bc he’s just a softy
Once again, perfect sex to story ratio, and the story is really good in my opinion

Good

Similar to the other two books BUT it satisfies everything we actually want when listening to the story. Definitely sets up the story for the next books.
