Publisher's summary

Between her cheating husband and her on-air meltdown, Marzie Nowak is going through a bit of a bad spell and a heck of a midlife crisis. Her kids have flown the coop to college, and her husband has opted to trade her in for a younger model. With nowhere else to turn, the ex-big-city journalist crawls back to her superstitious hometown of Widow's Bay just in time for their annual pagan festival. Her new, much less glamorous gig has her reporting for a local news website. It doesn't take long for her to realize the legends surrounding Widow's Bay may be more practical magic than fanciful myth.

Soon, Marzie is forced to contend with an invasion of flirty furry tourists, a sun-shy billionaire, and her suddenly chatty cat's fashion advice. When an unsolved murder sparks her own mystical powers, Marzie comes face-to-face with the fact menopause is a real witch and so is she!

With a killer on the loose and magical mysteries around every corner, can Marzie crack the case before her next meltdown? Or hot flash? Because in Widow's Bay, a hot flash means your magic is just getting warmed up!

great read in ebook great listening in audible

i read this book then listened to it. amazing all the stuff you breeze over but you catch on listening to it. narrator was good, but for some reason i expected the ski resort owner, resident vampire to not be french more Viking. so his voice bugged me. 40ish yr old mom flips on camera after seeing husband cheat she moves back home and that when sh** gets real. her Along with her friends finally decide to step up and manage the town as it should be. But so much happens between the beginning to the ending. all the good stuff. read it or listen to it, heck do both! next please

5/5 You will LOVE this series

NO SPOILER – that would spoil your journey

I have read / listened to books 1-6. All are written well, characters are now my friends, and the setting is home to me. (I’m a troll that lived in the UP every summer until I was in my 20’s. This made Widow’s Bay series closer to my heart)

IN THIS SERIES—you will be dealing with murders and the solving of them----But more. The interaction of characters in this setting is amazing! It could be called magical. LOL! You will love the story and hate those few who are always there to cause CHAOS and HARM. A JOY TO LISTEN TO.

Also, a thank you to Traci Odom for a fantastic narration.

Loved it

Rebecca Regnier has written a great
book/audiobook to kick off her Widow’s Bay series. The characters were well written and quickly seemed as though they were friends and not simply characters. II enjoyed Traci Ofom’s performance as she brought it all to life. I look forward to the next installment in this original series.

Good clean adult fun

So nice to read a book where the heroine is not a total idiot! This book was a lot of fun.

Enjoyed it, but had some issues

Overall I enjoyed this story. I will listen to the next book. What fundamentally I had some issues with the flow of the story and the fact that the main character is a journalist, yet very closed minded and did not succumb to curiosity at all. I felt the flow was awkward at times. Beyond that I am looking forwars to the next story and feel like it may be more solid since the character has now moved into a different space.

Fun

This is a quick and delightful read with interesting characters. I appreciate the focus on women post death and divorce in a culture where most of our media is focused on 20 somethings.

Consistent, feel-good story

This story has a strong female lead who feels like a realistic representation of many of us. The story keeps you interested and wanting to know what happens next. Hopefully, the series keeps building.

Intro to a town with witches with a duty

Marzi returns home and finds a magical community. Some LOL moments.
I love the narrator. Without needing "trick" voices, I can follow whose voice is speaking during conversations, which makes it easier to follow.

Loved Agnes

This new series started a bit on the slow side with a smart, recently divorced news woman who returns to her hometown. She’s unwilling to believe her own eyes & accept her own truth but this progresses well by book’s end & shows promise of becoming a good series. I liked the characters & loved her snarky cat, Agnes.
