Publisher's summary

Parker Sherbourne has a talent for sports and seduction - and the body to prove it. When the High Rollers, the professional football team from Las Vegas, chase after her to be their point-after specialist, she jumps at the chance. Sure, the position is only a publicity stunt, but she has always been able to turn any situation to her advantage.

Carly Bartlett joins the Rollers as the newest athletic trainer and the only other female on the payroll. This dream job could bring the financial security her family desperately needs. The head trainer has only one warning: don't get involved with a player. Not a problem. She doesn't go for guys.

When Parker reaches out to Carly for treatment, sparks fly. Will Carly fall for Parker's charms and put her own desires ahead of her family's? Has Parker finally found the woman who'll make her slow down and stop playing the angles?

With the macho world of football against them, can they beat the odds in this lesbian sports romance?

Sweet love story

I was rooting for each character the entire time. Abby Craden delivers narration as always.

Sweet Luck

This was the first for me by Catherine Lane . I loved the sports themed love story and of course with Abby Craden as the narrator, well....touchdown! I'll be picking up more by this author.

More Sports Lesbian Books please!

This book had some of my favorite things... Football, Las Vegas, Abby Craden, and some lesbian romance in the desert. Well done!

Football Romance

This was a nice sports romance. It's a bit of a slow burn, but it is still a good story. Parker and Carly both attracted t each other from the start, but there were so many things going on around them that seemed to get in the way. It was actually pretty cool, though, because as they navigated through it all, it made them a pretty good team. I enjoyed how everything played out - made the whole story very entertaining

It was good.

The narrator was as good as ever, the story was kinda just normal. I have been listening to a lot of books lately so this one just comes off as average. It's not bad though, the plot is consistent and resolves itself well.

A sports fairytale with a message of empowerment

Catherine Lane's love story features a female soccer star experimentally hired as a kicker for a female-owned NFL team based in Vegas, and a female physical therapist hired by the same team. Parker, an elite athlete, is the daughter of a luxury Vegas casino owner preoccupied with high-stakes business deals and his chronically depressed wife who has been absent from their children's lives. Carly comes from poverty: she and her middle schooler half-brother have been raised by their maternal grandmother, after being abandoned by their would-be showgirl mother. They live together in a tiny cheaply furnished flat, and Carly has taken the job with the football team in hopes of finally relieving her grandma of the need to work long, exhausting hours. Lane's clear, lean prose is like Parker's beautifully conditioned physique, which Carly--herself a beauty of mixed-race parentage--is irresistibly drawn to even before they have met. These two young women turn out to have a great deal in common, despite their social and material differences. Both have left respectable jobs for the challenges and rewards of working for a low-performing team that is being steered by its feminist owner in a new direction, resisting the masculinist culture of the NFL. Both are wounded by absent parents, though Carly is fortunate in her grandmother's selfless love. Both have to prove themselves professionally in an often hostile workplace, even as they find in one another the unexpected grace of being seen, heard and supported. Parker--a notorious, out player--turns out to be blazingly romantic and desperately in need of stability. Carly is closeted, cautious, but Parker awakens her courage. As lovers, they are perfectly matched, and Lane skilfully conveys the heat they spark in one another, and provides credible scenes in which we get to know them more deeply as they get to know one another. With the same swift economy of gesture that Carly admires in Parker, Lane also provides vivid snapshots of the luxury hotel in Vegas where Parker is ensconced, the lower-class suburb where Carly lives, the ravishing sandstone landscape, beyond the Vegas Strip. The velvet-voiced Abby Craden brings this very sweet story to life: yes, I'd listen to her even if she were reading advertisements, but Lane provides her with a nuanced--if low-keyed--story with festive episodes set in Halloween and at Christmas.

Great story, narrator wasn’t great

Overall awesome story line. Love women in sports. The narrator had trouble with the male voices it sounded like. I know it was probably hard, but every time she did a male voice I almost chuckled how bad it sounded.
