Publisher's summary

If you have bipolar disorder, you may experience feelings of mania or high energy, followed by periods of depression and sadness. These unusual shifts in mood, energy, and activity levels can make it extremely difficult to carry out day-to-day tasks-and ultimately reach your goals. Finding balance may be a daily struggle, even if you are on medication or in therapy. So, what else can you do to start feeling better?

Mindfulness - the act of present moment awareness - may be the missing puzzle piece in effectively treating your bipolar disorder. In the book, you will learn how to actively work through feelings of depression, anxiety, and stress in order to improve the quality of your life.

Written by a prominent psychiatrist, neuroscientist, and mindfulness teacher who draws upon his research experience and personal mindfulness practice as a monk in the Soto Zen tradition, this book will provide you with the tools needed to get your symptoms under control.

If you've sought treatment for bipolar disorder but are still struggling with symptoms, mindfulness may be the missing piece to solving the bipolar puzzle and taking back your life. This book will help you get started right away.

the title says it all.

this is a well organized practical guide to both mindfulness meditation and bipolar disorder and how to use the first to help with the second . Easy steps to implement and plenty of science along the way.

As someone with recently diagnosed bipolar disorder and a long term on again - off again meditation practice , this was just what I needed. I've put the plan into action with great results. I feel empowered and accepting for the first time since my diagnosis.

This book will resonate with people who have knowledge of bipolar and mindfulness, and with people who know a lot about one but not the other, and with people who are complete newbies to both. I am a complete science nerd and appreciated that aspect. My liberal arts friend with an allergy to science also thought the book was excellent .. Well done Dr Marchand.

however......the narration is a little off. Mr Boston is professional , clear and even - but also robotic and just a bit too muted . The writing itself is lively and engaging. i thought the narrator had a very flat affect. it was easy to fall asleep while listening and hard to listen to while driving. zzzz. . Maybe he took a few too many mood stabilizers:)

Highly recommend to anyone interested in putting mindfulness to direct use in improving their ability to manage bipolar disorder - or someone wanting to add mindfulness meditation to the tool bag for any mood disorder .

My gateway into Mindfulness

This book is amazing. The simplicity in which the core concepts of mindfulness are put across has served as my gateway into my own mindfulness practice (little and unstructured as it may be).
The mindful minute is a practice that I now treasure...
