Publisher's summary

Tired of the necromancer threat, Regan increases efforts to deal with them at their heart of power in the north. Seemingly aware of his presence, the monster horde continues to grow until finally they charge the valley. Steel Spire, one of Regan's sub-core ends up attracting their attention. Will his new inventions be able to handle the mass of monsters?

Meanwhile, Louella has her own monster horde to deal with. Enlisting the aid of the adventurers that have come to her valley, she marshals a force to meet the horde on the battlefield. Pushing her own power to the limit to defend her new home, will she be able to answer the call to battle?

Repeated

You repeat the same scenes over and over from different point of View from different people in the story too many times

Jumpy much?

I really like this book series but listening to this book was kind of hard because of the multiple different viewpoints. I really just want to listen to Reagan's point of view and that's it. out of all the 25 chapters only seven are from Reagan's point of view. that's less than half the book. I really hope the author's stops jumping around so much with his next book. The previous two books were better than this one.

Choppy

I was completely lost on POV perspective in the first hour of the book due to the time skips and changing characters

Why so short?

Loved the book. I highly suggest you give this series a try if you haven't already. For those of you returning to this series, I can say that this is a great addition to it.
My only gripe with this book is the multitude of points of view the book switches between. Don't get me wrong. I like to hear the story from different people but I feel like I barely got to hear anything from Regan! One of the things I loved about the first two books was the happenings in the dungeon and how Regan handled and changed things. This book there was barely any of that.
With that said I still recommend this book if you are interested in continuing the series. For those of you who are debating starting this series, I highly recommend giving it a shot and starting with Establish.

More Tell then Show

if you like Ready Player One, you'll probably like this series. Over all the auther tells you the story instead of showing effects, emotions and actions. All of that is just stated as if it was a weather forecast. This is a very high magic world and a lot of interesting world building is occurring in the process.

Great story, and narration is improving

Male narration is still very good, in my opinion. The female narration is less stunted, and is improving.

The narration style as a whole is distracting. I mentioned this in an earlier review, but basically, the male narration does all voices, male and female, in the male dominated chapter. The female narration does all voices, male and female, in the female dominated chapter. The end result is that you have two distinctly different versions of each voice, so you never really get comfortable with either of them. The chapters often end and start with the same character speaking, but not necessarily from the same viewpoint, so you go from a male Reagan talking, to a female trying to do a male voice talking as Reagan. While I am loving the actual story, and have progressed into the story, I feel this is a horrible way to have two narrators.

Chopee -_-

I I'm not a big fan of multiple views and books but I found this book very choppy with unnecessary information and characters.

MC is becoming basic

Just follows ladies around patting them on the back for assaulting his slaves. I don’t think the author had much story for this one. Ehh, maybe if you are in real need of a dungeon story not much about a dungeon anymore.
