Librarian Kathleen Paulson and her inquisitive cats find themselves in a jam when a musician turns up dead, in the newest installment of this New York Times best-selling series.

It's summer in Mayville Heights, and Kathleen Paulson and her detective boyfriend Marcus are eager to attend the closing concert of the local music festival. The concert is a success, but then one of the band members is discovered dead shortly after it. At first it's assumed the death is a robbery gone wrong, but Kathleen suspects foul play - and she's certain that she, along with her trusty side-cats, Owen and Hercules, can help solve the murder.

Before his death, Kathleen had noticed the victim in the library researching his genealogy, and when she and Marcus take a closer look at the man's family tree, they begin to think a previous death of one of his relatives now seems suspicious. The more Kathleen thinks about it, the more this murder feels like it could be an encore performance. Kathleen and her cats will need to act fast and be very careful if they want to stay off of a killer's hit list.

Hooked on a Feline is a well written cozy mystery with engaging characters and an entertaining plot. I look forward to the next book.

Owen and Hercules are sleuths! They help solve murders, but in "believable" cat ways. They don't verbally speak and aren't snarky as so many tedious cat tales. They're clever with catatude. The stories are light, enjoyable characters. Wouldn't it be wonderful if all small towns were like Maysville where artsy people got along, helped each other, and the town diner did gourmet fair. The protagonist asks herself self-doubting or simplified questions that seem to be required in "cozy mysteries" to move the story along, but not so frequently to be overly annoying. The stories often keep me guessing whodunit. The narrator can be a little flat, especially with Marcus, but does a good job overall. The author does a good job when talking about TNR and community cats. Spay & neuter people! The series is enjoyable.

Sofie Kelly & Cassandra Campbell team up once again for another great installment in the Magical Cats series. Hercules and Owen are up to their mischievous ways as usual. If you enjoy cozy mysteries with a cat or two then this series is for you. I highly recommend this book and series.

It has been too long since I was able to hangout with Kathleen, Marcus, Owen, Herc, and the gang. I truly enjoyed this book, even though I could have used a bit more Kathleen- Roma time, as well as Lucy, and the other feral cats. Even so, the closing scene left me laughing and wanting more. I am ready for Book 14!

Not a usual story line. Enjoyed the characters . Cassandra as always was great.

Unique story line

Shortly after a stellar return performance of hometown hero Johnny Rock & his band mates the Outlaws, one of the band members is discovered dead. Our librarian protagonist is called upon to help get to the bottom of the murder, but her loyal, magical cats play a big part in helping to solve this mystery & her. I enjoyed this light cozy mystery & I’m looking forward to the next Magical Cats adventure!

When I need something light with a great story and mystery I turn to these cats. Herc & Owen are my kind of cats!!
