About this listen

A whirlwind romance...and only the rest of their lives to get over it.

When Kate and Lauren meet in college it's love at first sight. Unfortunately, the fact that school is almost over is the least of their problems. A roller coaster of emotions and uncertainty causes Kate to leave town, and a heartbroken Lauren, behind.

Fifteen years later, with her 10-year-old daughter in tow, Kate returns to Renfrew hoping to recapture some of the inner peace she found during her college days. She's stunned when she discovers Lauren has purchased the local coffee shop and has her own 10-year-old surprise.

The two women attempt to avoid one another at all costs. But the incessant pull from the past - and the budding friendship between their daughters - has them on a collision course...to a second chance at love.

Contains mature themes.

First time listening/reading this author but it won't be the last. Talk about a roller-coaster (in a good way). A number time I just wanted to shout 'wake the heck up' at both main characters! Loved the book, narrator not so much but I couldn't do it so I guess I should shut up. Did I just say shut up.....😄

Really good, don't miss this one.

the book is tole by Kate, and I know that she is in pain, but Emily Beresford gives her a very angry voice, I wish she soften it, it took me time to understand why she was angry.
All in all the book is well written and narration is good.

Took some time, but I love this book

but in the end I just couldn't. HEA's can only work if you can relate to the MC's and want them to be happy. This audio's running time is 426 min and for the first 420 minutes my opinion of Kate was that she was whiny, complaining, grumpy, sullen, irritable, pouting, sulky, sour and peevish. She was also needlessly hierarchal and authoritarian towards her daughter. Lauren was quite pushy about developing a relationship with Kate and consistently blithe concerning their past connection and Kate's unwillingness to establishing a relationship with a married woman. Finally, with short asides for the women's daughters, pretty much the entire story focused on the relationship of the 2 protagonists told from Kate's point of view, which made it essentially repetitive and discouraging. it just wasn't enough of a story to carry the book for seven hours. So although I wanted to like this work; I didn't.
