Publisher's summary

What do you get when you cross a cursed bookshop, three hot fictional men, and a punk rock heroine nursing a broken heart?

After being fired from her fashion internship in New York City, Mina Wilde decides it's time to reevaluate her life. She returns to the quaint English village where she grew up to take a job at the local bookshop, hoping that being surrounded by great literature will help her heal from a devastating blow.

But Mina soon discovers her life is stranger than fiction - a mysterious curse on the bookshop brings fictional characters to life in lust-worthy bodies. Mina finds herself babysitting Poe's raven, making hot dogs for Heathcliff, and getting IT help from James Moriarty, all while trying not to fall for the three broken men who should only exist within her imagination.

When Mina's ex-best friend shows up dead with a knife in her back, she's the chief suspect. She'll have to solve the murder if she wants to clear her name. Will her fictional boyfriends be able to keep her out of prison?

Contains mature themes.

Smart, funny, genre-bending

A fun read- YA fantasy meets literary fiction with a side of self-deprecating author-preneur satire. So good. At times the reverse harem stuff felt like a separate storyline, and while I get it and why it might make sense for the character, the explicitness means some audiences can’t enjoy it. And so much about this book—in particular the sight loss and the strong female characters- deserve wide readership.

Something….Different

‘A Dead and Stormy Night’ has been an intriguing, but no less good, story than what I’ve been reading lately. There’s just…something about Mina that seems so youthful (naive?), but I love how quickly she is adjusting to everything and finding her voice & inner strength. I’m also impressed with the narration - lots of characters to keep track of; I just hope there’s no other narrator, even if an addition, because it’d be too different. On to book 2!!

Cozy and Magical

A Dead and Stormy Night" by Steffanie Holmes is a delightful and captivating cozy mystery that will warm your heart and keep you guessing until the very end. Set in a charming small town, the story follows a cast of lovable characters who find themselves caught up in a thrilling murder mystery.

One of the highlights of this book is the author's ability to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The descriptions of the town and its inhabitants make you feel like you're part of the community, and the quaint setting adds an extra layer of charm to the story. The author's attention to detail brings the scenes to life, making it easy to imagine yourself walking the streets alongside the characters.

Speaking of characters, they are the heart and soul of this story. Each one is unique and well-developed, with their own quirks and secrets. From the determined and resourceful main character to the quirky and endearing side characters, you can't help but become invested in their lives and root for them as they navigate the twists and turns of the mystery.

The plot is expertly crafted, with plenty of suspense and surprises along the way. The pacing is just right, keeping you engaged from start to finish. The author does a fantastic job of weaving together clues and red herrings, keeping you guessing about the identity of the culprit until the final reveal.

Overall I definitely recommend this series to fans of RH, mystery, fantasy, and the people that love a good saunter thru an old bookshop.

it wasn't bad.

Overall an OK book. a little slow for me. Character build wasn't as detailed as I generally like and the relationship between the characters seemed more strained and less fluid.

Interesting Storyline

It was definitely interesting some parts were a bit hard to get through and sometimes I got aggravated with the main character and all the talk about 'her lady parts' but I'm definitely interested in the rest of the series now to find out what happens
