Great story. Had forgotten the first half of it but quickly caught up. Gad Darren got his Happily Ever After!

This is not what I expected...Ms. Langlais usually rocks it. The books are funny, characters are endearing and realistic. She writes guys who are hero's and women who are strong as well. THIS BOOK MISSED the mark.....by a lot. The male protagonist Darren is and comes off pretty much as an assh*le and the female Francesca/Marina is a manipulative sociopath. The book is not endearing and not interesting. Pass on this and pick up one of her other series instead.

Also, WOW the reader was bad her voice did nothing to help with flat book. The readers are usually really good. This one hurt Pint sized Protector and made this one worse. Her male voice comes off as super whiny and the women's voice was flat.

Again, I am glad I didn't buy this one and got it on my Audible Escape.

Pass on this one...it is a miss

The book did too much of a job building up Marina/Francesca as a ruthless, manipulative spy,
making it impossible to believe she was capable of real love. Darren was a bland as toast office CEO.
The “someone’s trying to kill me” plot was still nonsense, having dragged thru several books as nothing more than a device to keep the MCs on the run. The only thing worse than the characters and
the story was the ill-fitting, empty, robo-narration.

An enemies to enemies romance?!

Poorly developed, unlikable main characters who argue, fight off multiple assassins, argue, have sex, argue, get ambushed, argue … repeat ad nauseum. With all the genre cliches. The narrator tried valiantly to keep it from being totally boring.
