Publisher's summary

My name is Tamara Bentley, "Bent" to my friends, and I'm not supposed to exist. I was born of the forbidden union between a witch and a werewolf, and they've been trying their damnedest to hide my existence ever since.

But now my secret is out, and my uncle, the leader of the wolf pack, is pissed beyond belief. In his eyes, I'm something that should've never been born. He wants me dead and doesn't care who he has to sacrifice to get the job done.

I'm far from helpless, though. Not only am I a champion athlete, but I'm strong enough to punch out a bus. Good thing, too, because a rare lunar event is about to increase my uncle's already terrifying power. I'll have to call on every last ounce of strength I have if I want to survive the night and save the lives of everyone counting on me.

A good book on Witches and Werewolves and being who and what you are.

Plenty of action and drama, finding oneself, in search of one's own place in the world.
Even when everyone is doing everything to keep you locked in what they expect, to out of fear, of what you might do, or even out of love but knowing what others may do.

Not a YA story

When I first read the synopsis, I thought it was a YA book. But it's not really. The heroine is college aged but she has to deal with plenty of adult problems like saving her town from her before unknown werewolf side of her family.

Really like Bent

In the town of High Moon, a young woman named Bent is a frequently ill young woman who has to take her medicine regularly. Well, one night she doesn't and has to run away from a horde of lycantropes. From there, Bent discovers she has powers far beyond those of mortal women. Unfortunately, they come from being a forbidden hybrid of witch and lycanthrope. This is a big no-no and will probably result in the entire town being destroyed unless she agrees to an arranged marriage with increasingly Darth Vader-esque conditions.

Rick writes a plucky heroine that I absolutely adored and her best friend reminded me of Willow from Buffy. I also think Bent is far less aggravating (albeit less funny) a protagonist than Bill from the Tome of Bill series. If you liked his other books, you'll love this and it's a good starting place if you haven't read any of them.

Great narration too.

not worth buying

thank goodness it was free. I love fiction and paranormal fantasy.... but 50% of this story was just stupid. I was asking why that choice at every turn... like the author had already picked the path, but couldn't find a good reason for the story to flow that way.

GOOD START.

Enjoyable. Warring groups between weres and witches. Young protagonist a hybrid with a were father and a witch for mother is caught between trying to keep her town safe. Plucky girl! Interesting dialogue well performed by Rachel Dulude. I am looking forward to the next book. Good series.

Pretty entertaining

It's easy to break down a character and insult the writer. It is hard to create an entire new world I am a fan of Rick Gualtieri's characters.

I can't wait for the next book!!!!

I have been impatiently waiting for this book to be available on audio and it didn't disappoint. I was hooked from the very beginning and it was such a fun story to listen to that it will definitely be on my list of books I relisten to when I am out of credits. I thought the narrator was the perfect voice for Bent and did a great job.
