Johnstone Country. Where it's never quiet on the Western front.
Life on the straight and narrow is easier said than done for a pair of crooks like Jimmy "Slash" Braddock and Melvin "Pecos Kid" Baker. But these reprobates are doing their damnedest to make an honest go of it. They've managed to safely deliver a church organ to a mountain parish when their sometime employer - Chief US Marshal Luther T. "Bleed-'m-So" Bledsoe - recruits them for a job only fools would take.
Marshal Bledsoe wants them to pick up a shipment of gold in the mining town in the Sawatch Mountains. Here's the catch: Slash and Pecos's wagon is just a decoy. When a ruthless gang ambushes the real gold shipment, it's up to Slash and Pecos to go after the trigger-happy bandits. And they won't be alone. A lady Pinkerton, Hattie Friendly - who is anything but - survived the ambush and is hellbent on getting the gold back. Even if she has to team up with a pair of ornery old cutthroats like Slash and Pecos...
The Cutthroats are back. The bad guys are history.

John McClain did a excellent job in narration.
My most memorable moment in this story was when Hattie got her long awaited chance to get revenge on Gurtie.
This story contains violence and gore. In my opinion, I would not recommend for children. I consider it adult reading or listening.
Slash, Pecos and Hattie,'s wild ride

Although some parts are gory, the writers are careful not to overdo.
As for the narration, he’s terrific! I think he made the book seem as good as some of the other books I rate at 5 stars. My favorite books by these authors is the Drifter series.
I’m beginning to think that different ghost writers are writing some of these later books. William has been dead for years, and J.A. is a great respecter of women. I don’t believe they would dumb down women like was done in this book if they were writing it themselves. I’m using the plural pronoun for J.A. I’m a huge fan of the person known as J.A. Johnstone.
I Love Every Book the Johnstone’s Write
