Publisher's summary

It's hard to make friends with the other women at the Icehome camp when you'd rather be dissecting the local fauna. Which is why I'm surprised when one of the big, brawny islanders asks me to help him make a prosthetic leg. I don't know N'dek, but since I'm a scientist, he wants my help. And while I'm more into dinosaurs than anatomy, I love a challenge.

As we work together, I come to see that N'dek's not just clever and determined, he's also protective and sweet. And he kisses like a fiend.

He's a distraction I don't need...but he might be everything I've ever wanted. Too bad he says he's going to resonate to someone else.

Contains mature themes.

Listen to these narrators!

This Ruby Dixon story, Devi's Distraction, is a chapter in an ongoing series about human women and the blue barbarians who love them passionately.
This author is one of the most talented I've read. The wonderful thing about Ruby's books is that every new story in the series is honestly just as great or better than the ones prior. Devi's Distraction comes from an original perspective on living on Icehome that I recommended to my friends and family in love with Ruby Dixon books.
Devi is a scientist that everyone thinks is weird. She chooses to focus her powerful intellect on excitedly discovering everything she can on this new world.
N'Dek is one of the islanders with four arms from the Strong Arm clan. Recently recovered from losing the lower part of his leg, he is wallowing in self pity until he talks to Devi. Having her treat him like a normal male helps him rediscover his confidence.
This story has been one of my favorites since first published on Kindle and I love, love, these narrators! Sean Chrisden has the low, growly voice for N'Dek that's so sexy and perfect! Felicity Monroe's performance of Devi and her distracted, excited and fast speech was so wonderful! Just an awesome listen, all the way!

Awwwwwww N'dek finds his purpose!

I liked that N'dek found love . . . And that it was with a brown girl. A scientist at that. Devi is probably my favorite of the Icehome women and I'm glad that she is non-judgmental. She is the perfect female for N'dek.

Another good story!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😌😎🙃😮

The heroine: Devi - she is a paleophysiologist and is very interested in the flora and fauna of her new world. She is a bit of a loner and likes to spend her time on the beach dissecting the animals she finds and the ones that are washed up on the beach.

The Hero(es): N’Dek - he is of the strong arm clan, which means he has 4 arms. He was injured back home and lost part of one leg below the knee. He has been kind of a grouch and a bit lazy, feeling sorry for himself because he was such a strong hunter and he felt that he couldn’t contribute anymore.

The Story: N’Dek sees that Devi is intelligent and asks her if she can make him some sort of prosthetic leg. He doesn’t want anyone else to know in case it doesn’t work out. So after everyone else goes to bed, the two of them work together on their project and get to know each other.

After Bridget makes an offhand remark, N’Dek thinks he will soon resonate and he figures it will be with Bridget. He wants to know more about human females so that when he does resonate he will know how to please her, so he asks Devi about humans. They talk more and more each night and get closer.

These two were very cute together and I liked the romance between them. I liked how N’Dek is surprised that Devi doesn’t look at him like he is less of a man. Devi is such a nerdy girl that she is adorable, especially when she starts talking about the animals she dissects.

Like the rest in the series, this book was told in dual points of view via dual narration. The narrators are Sean Crisden and Felicity Munroe. Felicity’s voice is perfect for Devi and especially cute when she goes on and on about her work on the beach. Sean has a nice deep voice and his pitch and cadence work well for the alien males.

Dissecting Love

I love this book and the quirky Devi. Devi is such a unique person, not afraid of being who she is. N'Dek loves that Devi treats him like anyone else and doesn't see just his disability. They are a perfect pair!

Love it

I loved Devi and N’Dek. While all of Ruby Dixon’s books are amazing I can always relate to her awkward characters more. I liked the narration the male narrator pronounced some of the names differently than I’m used to and it took a second to figure out who he was talking about. Nevertheless I highly recommend anything Ms. Dixon puts out.
