Publisher's summary

Roland Vawdrey is used to the best. As the King's champion he sets all the maiden's hearts a-flutter. When it comes to picking out a wife, he knows exactly what he requires, perfection of face and form.

Naturally, his choice falls on the fair Lenora. His dreams may be haunted by a stolen kiss with uptight Eden, but he's not about to throw himself away on some prim, paragon of virtue!

Eden Montmayne prefers poets to knights, and would rather read a book than watch the jousting. When a betrothal feast goes awry, there is a truly scandalous outcome for Eden and Roland that throws the royal court into chaos. Even more shockingly, people soon start to wonder, could the resulting marriage be the making of them both? Despite the fact it was such an ill-made match?

Contains mature themes.

Great but not the best

I must say first of all that I just love Alice Coldbreath. I hope she continues the sweet yet sexy almost erotic love scenes in all her future books. She has a talent with the sex in her stories. Very tasteful and adds to the story. Now of the three books so far the first is the best. The second is second best and of course the third is third best. This last one drawled on about this regarding the court with king and queen. Comments about the castle having ghosts of past lady’s of the castle was talked about but never addressed. It just wasn’t as good. I found myself fast forwarding several chapters which I never did in the two previous books.
May I please make a recommendation about the narrator? Anne Flosnick is such a bad choice for a lot of books. Please hear me out. She’s sounds like a 60-70 year old woman when these maidens are early 20s. And the men sound old and gruff. If looking for suggestions I’d say Ashford Mcnab or Justine Eyre would make these books go from 4-10 stars in a heart beat. Please consider. Thank you Alice. Great job. Keep them coming.

Sweet and funny

I didn’t think Roland’s story would be as interesting as the others but it was great! The beginning is a bit frustrating in that the two main characters are oblivious to the cause of their wedding. However, as time goes on, their relationship grows and it’s fun to see how they come to understand and appreciate each other. Roland turns out to be more than just the typical alpha male. This book also has more humor in it, especially toward the end, which left me smiling at the conclusion. Well done!

Good

I enjoyed the story and laughed out loud many times at different points throughout the book. I enjoyed the narrator as well which I have recently found can make or break a story. This is book 3 of the series. I read out of order which I habe never done before but I think it will be ok and just help to build the excitement to read the other two.
