Publisher's summary

Seneca is the complete package. He's smart, sexy, and confident, much to Chevy's annoyance. They've worked with each other for two years, and even though Chevy might secretly find his partner charming and attractive, playful harassment is all they have.

Chevy was born with a unique gift that allows him to go into the memories of others. As detective, he uses this ability to find peace for victims who have been hurt or attacked. He delves into their memories and can pick out minute details that will help them put the criminal behind bars.

But neither Chevy nor Seneca are prepared when they are asked to go into the mind of a serial killer in hopes of finding survivors. They are even more unprepared for the monsters they find inside the man's mind. Drawn into a memory where it's hard to figure out where the truth exists, they realize that there may be more to the serial killer than they originally thought. The dark world draws the two men together in a way they never dreamed. It will take everything Chevy and Seneca can give to stop the darkness that could consume their minds. As the two are forced to face what is keeping them apart, together they realize that there's more to the mind and heart than either of them know.

Mind was blown away

Ok, now this book blew my mind away. Just like the characters, my mind was probed and I felt like I was spiraling out of my mind. Though the book itself is hard to describe without spoiling it, I honestly recommend you listen to this. Alice Winter(I love this author) paints the world so clearly that even though the character are experiencing chaos, it is clear the the listener/reader what is going on. Get it. It is worth the purchase.

Joel Leslie (Love his narrations) honestly where can you go wrong with him? He brings the character to life. Tells the story well and at a great pace. He makes sure the readers have a grasp on what's happening.

I loved the story

But let me tell you I screamed at the nonsense banter between the two main characters. I felt it was too much sometimes and I had to pause and scream to the heavens in futility. A great story though , unexpected in it's twist and turn. There were some questions left unanswered to the end that annoyed me.

now to the narrator, oh my god give Joel a freaking prize already. He can recit a grocery list and still get you invested. Every character is distinct with his narration , there is no over lap. Honestly bad audio books have been much improved because of his voice. where ever you are Joel if you do even read this , my hat to you good sir.

Awesome start to a new series

OMG I loved this book. I have read a lot of books that can be considered paranormal but I have never read one that deals with entering minds to view their memories. Chevy has the gift and Seneca, who I absolutely adored, is his partner. To a certain extent, Seneca can mimic others gifts. Seneca goes in the minds with Chevy as his back up to help get him out should something happen as well as being a back up to what Chevy sees. Two reports are always better than one. They are called in to go into the mind of a serial killer to see if there are victims left alive after he is captured. And when they enter his mind, they are dropped down a deep rabbit hole not knowing what is real and what isn't. You see Page has a gift that hasn't been seen before, he can manipulate others minds. This kept me on the edge of my seat worried that they may never get out. I have to say that when all was said and done, I felt so sorry for Page, the serial killer, and what he went through. This was a great investigation and I never figured out, not even close, why Page did what he did. Seneca cracked me up to no end with his wise cracks, sexual innuendos and flirtatious shenanigans. Chevy and Seneca made a great couple, once Chevy got out of his own way & accepted Seneca. I highly recommended this one!!

Wow. Recommend.

I tend to stick to contemporary romance but got this on sale. REALLY glad I gave it a chance.
Intriguing idea. Written in a way that let me suspend belief and go along with the ride.
A couple of mind-binding tricks of the audio, some wonderfully creepy voices, and some clever diqlogue all combined into a great experience for the listener.
Will definitely check out more from this author.
As always, Joel Leslie is great.

I don’t even

Know what to write about this story. At first, I thought it was going to be too weird for me, but then about a quarter of the way through, I got sucked in and really enjoyed it.
I can say it’s definitely different than anything else I’ve read. I kinda felt like I was on an acid trip part of the time. If you’re looking for something different, this is it.
Seneca and Chevy are great together. And Alice’s signature humor is present. As always, Joel Leslie performs perfectly.

Scared & delighted me at the same time

I already loved this story already, and will admit to being a little weary at how this would be narrated... but! I was surprised, delighted and had moments that scared the bejesus out of me. Joel's depictions of the creatures inside Mason's mind literally gave me the creeps!!! Brilliant!

Good story. Good narration.

This story is classic Alice Winters storytelling. Snarky characters pretending like they dislike each other so they don't have to admit to deeper feelings. Eventually they find themselves in a serious situation that forces them both to admit things to themselves.... Also they are trying to stop bad guys from doing bad things.

This book was a little bit trippy because it explores the idea of having mental gifts. I started having flashbacks to X-men comics, but I think this story was a bit more entertaining.

Joel Leslie's narration was nicely done. I appreciate how well manages female voices and keeps each character voice distinct.

Can't wait for the next book. Fortunately, I don't need to...

I can't believe I waited this long

Don't hesitate buy this book! I don't know how she does it but Alice Winters can take a serious story and bring the fun. Seneca us my favorite character of hers yet, his wit and charm are everything and I wish I could get away with saying penisfly trap with a straight face( that is my favorite line) Chevy is the dry sarcasm and rock to Senecas bubbly personality. Seneca knows just what buttons to push to get Chevy into some pretty embarrassing situations and I was laughing so hard at work. I read both this and the next book back to back and I can't wait for the next book. Alice Winters and Joel Leslie are a match made in heaven.

Unexpected but loved it

This book took me by surprise; a good one. I love the banter between the characters. I'm looking forward to listening to the sequel with Joel as the narrator.
