LOVED the story!

Having said that, oh my gosh! The main character is extremely annoying. This character is in a contest to become the Mrs. President. I would assume we are supposed to see a strong woman character. Although, I am no longer 18-19 (the time span for most of the series) I don't remember crying over everything. Or have the need to be carried everywhere. Or have the desire to have a man have his hands touching me all of the time. The main character came off as a spoiled brat. We are supposed to be cheering for her. I don't understand women who act like this. On the other hand she did seem to really care about others. I guess what I am trying to say is that for a Mrs. President candidate and then winner she is extremely immature.
The narration was amazing and the story was great and held my interest.

Didn’t want it to end!

I loved this series. The narrator is amazing & conveys each emotion the characters are feeling. Characters are unique and full of depth. These books seriously satisfied my dystopian-fiction-loving heart! Didn’t want it to end & I got way too attached to the characters & story.

LOVE THIS SERIES

This entire series was amazing! The narrartor does an amazing job of telling the story. This one started out very intense, so I had to take breaks. I was pleasantly surprised at how well everything weaved together. It is a bit predictable, but many in this genre are. Good writing and great narration. I highly reccommend anything done by this narrator!

WOW! I didn't want the series to end...

After listening to 18 to 19 hours of each book, I DID NOT WANT IT TO END!! This series is brilliant. There's something for everyone. I love how witty some of the characters are. I love the main character and the fun she puts into this. LOVE her words she uses often, which makes the book so fun. This is also suspensful and you can't wait to see what's going to happen. This is clever, brilliant; just fantaistc. I WANT MORE!!! You need to listen to this now. You won't regret it!!

Ok…but not great.

I like the story. I think this author has skill. I’m just so disappointed with the overall result of these books. I kept wishing the entire time that she would have went through traditional publishing to work out the kinks. There were expressions that were overused and simple errors that made me cringe. It’s a good story but could have been great.
The narrator did an excellent job.

F🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬G CRINGE and NONSTOP BAWLING

*I REALLY LOATHE THIS WEEPY SEXIST NARRATOR! * _TOO MUCH CRINGY EMOTIONALISM_ . As for the author, how many times do we have to hear about Reagan's eyes stinging with tears? PUKE🤮 I almost eye-rolled myself into another dimension, due to Reagan's hours & hours of whining & bawling. I don't know if it's Reagan that I hate so much, or if it's the Narrator's whiny, tween, projection of Reagan's voice that I hate so much. What's with all the bawling? I think the Narrator, though female, has a sexist view of women (because the men in the story constantly express strong emotion WITHOUT tears in their voices, and without sobbing and bawling, _meanwhile_ , Reagan can't shut up with the constant, ridiculous, irritating
f🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬g crying). I hate it, I hate it, I hate it; therefore I REALLY hate this Narrator who somehow can't express female emotions without non-stop BAWLING.

Why did I buy this series

After listening to the first book, I thought this series could make for a good listening. It was kinda eerie listening about a pandemic while living through covid. That aside, the premise of the book reminded me of the Hunger Games, but these characters were not nearly as mature. I enjoyed the aspect that all 3 books took place over a very shot period of time...less than a year. But the characters quickly kept randomly throwing in more damns and hells which were not needed (seemed to be just thrown in by some editor). I hope I can get a refund at least for this book, if not all 3. I wanted it to be a good story, but it just fell way short of my hope.

Repetitive and whiny

The main gist of the storyline is interesting, but it gets lost in the main characters’ constantly repetitive thought process and the author’s repetitive use of phrases. It got mundane and I found myself skipping forward just to get the book finished.

On a side note, a previous reviewer mentioned a robotic performance, but I truly feel that was largely due to the way the author wrote the books. It had a robotic feel.

Overall the book was fantastic in helping me to fall asleep every night, but I couldn’t wait to finish the series just to get it done and over with.

A bit repetitive

I forced myself to finish the full series but it was a struggle. The story runs on and on for long parts of the book just repeating lines like “holy crap” and childish references to sex. The book could have been condensed to about half the time unfortunately there was a lot of just down time.

Now the other issues I had was the sexism and micro agressions towards lgbtq. There were multiple times in the book where there is a clear message “ only men in the military” women have to have babies and be home. Then in one chapter the message men and women together only. Not sure if this was intentional or not but listening it really rubbed me the wrong way as it felt targeted.
