When she hears that her younger brother, Danny, has committed suicide, Sayre Lynch relinquishes her vow never to return to Destiny, the small Louisiana town in which she grew up. She plans to leave immediately after the funeral, but soon finds herself drawn into the web cast by Huff Hoyle, her controlling and tyrannical father. Hoyle owns the town's sole industry and runs the lives of everyone who lives there. Her father and older brother, Chris, are as devious as ever with their new partner-in-crime, a disarming lawyer named Beck Merchant. When Sayre is thrown in closer contact with Beck, she senses something more sinister is at play.
As she sets out to learn just what did happen to Danny, Sayre is inextricably drawn into a struggle with striking laborers, her unscrupulous father, and her growing love/hate relationship with Beck - a man with mysteries of his own. A brilliant combination of hard-edged suspense and intense emotion, White Hot is master storyteller Sandra Brown at her very best.

What did you like best about this story?
The story held my interest from beginning to end and made my long drive to work seem very short. How could the performance have been better?
Getting tired of Victor Slezak's narration. The characters in this book have the same voices and expressions as the characters in the other books that he narrates. Victor is a good reader, but he needs to mix it up a little.Another Sandra Brown hit!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
NO - giving up. The abridged version leaves out so much stuff I can't even follow it! Massively huge plot holes. I can't stand abridged versions but I bought this on my iphone and didn't notice - so my bad. If it could be followed it would be ok...but when one character complains about being set up and the key info about incriminating evidence simply wasn't there I couldn't take it any more. Seems like a good story and the narrator was great. I know some people like abridged versions - but if you're going to put them out and charge money for them PLEASE at least make them coherent!UGH - didn't notice it was abridged....
