Good start to a series...

Fun. Good start to a series. Solid characters if a bit thin. Lister is always a great narrator.

great story. one of the best narrator iv heard yet. iv listened ymto almost all of the forgotten realms novals .

Worth your time.

Amazing preformance, fantastic writing. The two compliment each other making a solid 10+ hours worth of good entertainment.

This is ACTED not read....

Fantastic ideas and storyline, however the writing style is a bit clunky, especially the use of "the young sailor" almost every other line instead of "he" etc. . Not sure what is up with that but it becomes tortured. Also, the voice acting is just that...acting, not reading, and don't get me started on the whale voice the reader uses-I had to turn the volume down it was so awful! I've enjoyed a lot of books on audible and I've never heard a reader with such a great voice at times be so bad at other times. Some samples you listen to and after a second skip-not for me-but this one has this odd mix of a (great voice for reading, but the character voices! Ouch!). Also, don't get me started on why the voice character for lack of a better term that the performer uses for the main villain sounds like a used car salesman from Eastern Europe...."LEET-ELL MAHLENTEEEE". Had to turn that down at times to keep from laughing, which was not the author's intent I assume. If he would have said " I VANT TO SUCK YOUR BLUUD" I would not have been surprised. But I bought and listened to all three in the series because the story line was so creative, so go figure....but I'm glad it is over.

Fantasy Pirates and Deep Sea Intrigue

The Story is broken into 3 ,main perspectives. Each feels like a different type of story, for better or worse.

Jherek, the sailor.
He is likeable enough when he isn't being moronically honest or chivalrous. I did enjoy his chapters though. He also get's a nice moment where my complaints about his personality might be addressed as an arc in the next book.

Laaqueel, the Malenti.
By far my favorite. Her narrative is focused on trying to understand the motivations and goals of the main antagonist. All while hopping between the most interesting scenes in the book.

Pacys. the bard.
His part in the book was incredibly dull and did nothing for me, I found myself upset when he'd get another chapter. I'd honestly recommend just skipping his chapters if you feel the same way. You wont miss anything important.
