This is the short story, The Adjustment Team, which asks the question - Do we control our destiny, or do unseen forces manipulate us? Ed Fletcher is a real estate agent with a normal life, until one day he leaves the house for work a few minutes later than he should have. He arrives at a terrifying, grey, ash world. Ed rushes home and tells his wife, Ruth, who goes back to the office with him. When they return, everything is normal. But he soon realizes people and objects have subtly changed. Panic-stricken, he runs to a public phone to warn the police, only to have the phone booth ascend heavenward with Fletcher inside....

The Adjustment Team is the basis for the feature film The Adjustment Bureau, starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt.

The listening time was the major disappointment with this book. There was very little listening for the money spent.

This is not a book, it is a short story.

What made the experience of listening to The Adjustment Bureau the most enjoyable?

Narration was kept right at the proper pace and tension. Voicing for the different characters was also distinct and excellent.

What other book might you compare The Adjustment Bureau to and why?

No comparisons come to mind just now.

Have you listened to any of Phil Gigante’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Gigante was a pleasure to listen to. I have not found any of his other work yet, but I am looking forward to more from him.

Better Than The Movie!

I enjoyed the story, I think I just enjoyed the movie more.

If you’ve listened to books by Philip K. Dick before, how does this one compare?

As in all PDK stories, the plots are brilliant, the characters are interesting but flawed, and you come out if it terribly depressed.

Was The Adjustment Bureau worth the listening time?

Still, a worthwhile listen.

I feel completely ripped off. I have only 1 chapter of 3. Where is the rest of the story?

Yes, I feel ripped off.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Phil Gigante?

Someone who would include the entire story.

Any additional comments?

Yes, include the entire story and don't rip off the listner

Ripoff - incomplete story - chapter 1 of 3

Would you be willing to try another one of Phil Gigante’s performances?

No. Unfortunately, all of the women's voices were so unbeleiveable that it took me out of the story and left me wishing i could fastforward so I didnt have to hear the shrillness.

Any additional comments?

The story was interesting. I would not listen to this version. The shrillness of the women's voices made listening unbearable.

Any one but a Woman
