The New York Times bestselling author of The Shattering and Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects delivers a sensational tie-in to the newest World of Warcraft game expansion.

The ashes of the Cataclysm have settled across Azeroth’s disparate kingdoms. As the broken world recovers from the disaster, the renowned sorceress Lady Jaina Proudmoore continues her long struggle to mend relations between the Horde and the Alliance. Yet of late, escalating tensions have pushed the two factions closer to open war, threatening to destroy what little stability remains in the . . . Dark news arrives in Jaina’s beloved city, Theramore. One of the blue dragonflight’s most powerful artifacts—the Focusing Iris—has been stolen. To unravel the item’s mysterious whereabouts, Jaina works with the former blue Dragon Aspect Kalecgos. The two brilliant heroes forge an unlikely bond during their investigation, but another disastrous turn of events looms on the horizon. . . . Despite mounting dissent within his faction, the brazen warchief aims to usher in a new era of Horde domination. His thirst for conquest leads him to take brutal measures against anyone who dares question his leadership. I know nothing about WOW but this was recommended to me.

I had almost no problem figuring out what was going on, though I did all my friend a few questions about the backstory.

The plot was interesting and the narrator did an excellent job. Once I finished I've been trying to figure out what happens after the events in my book and wanting to know more about the WOW lore.

Great listen

The story was great, her voice is beautiful. Her female voicing is so utterly perfect but her male voicing is so cringe I could hardly stand it. I understand its harder to do male voices as a high pitched female... I would have rather she tried less to make them deeper and just made her voice gruffer instead. Anduin was really great since he was young and the voice was fine higher pitched. In the future I'd suggest this voice actor pair up with another to handle the male voices.

She did good female voices

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'd recommend this to a person who has played the game otherwise it might be a little to focused on WoW to be a enjoyable fantasy book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of World of Warcraft: Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War?

The battle scenes are well described and exciting with the narrating actor's influence.

Have you listened to any of Justine Eyre’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't, but I'd like to after this one.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did find myself looking for excuses to listen more.

Any additional comments?

WoW fans will love it.

As a player of wow for 12 years I have a listening advantage in understanding the imagery and characters automatically. This left me basking in the fantastically woven story and taking in the complex themes- this is not just a "video game book". Treachery, honor, love, hatred, fear, loss, temptation, fatherhood, national pride- many richly tired together concepts (there are even issues of terrorism and a country's reaction to it that come up). For a fantasy fiction I found the read very relevant.

Incredible story and storytelling
