Sunday Woodcutter is the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter. Not only does that come with an enormous family, but the things she writes in her journal also have a tendency to come true. When Sunday meets a frog in the Enchanted Wood who asks about her stories, the two develop a unique and precious friendship that quickly deepens into something quite magical.

One night, Sunday kisses her frog goodbye and leaves, not realizing that her love has transformed him back into Rumbold—rebellious crown prince of Arilland and a man Sunday’s family despises. The prince returns to his castle and announces a royal ball, inviting every eligible young woman in the country. Rumbold hopes to make Sunday fall in love with him as the man he is and not the frog he was.

Sunday does feel a strange, strong attraction to this prince she barely knows. But what other twisted secrets might lie hidden in his past…and hers?

As a lover of fairy tales, I believe this to be the best retelling that blends and mixes together not just one or two tales together, but many of the tales you know. Magical and spellbinding from beginning to end.

Best Weaving of Fairytale

Very good book. The end has a lot of cliché moments so gotta be up for some corny/sappy parts to read it.

Very good but also sappy

What made the experience of listening to Enchanted the most enjoyable?

Alethea Kontis spins a fantastic web of fairy tales into this retelling of the Frog Prince.

Which scene was your favorite?

Papa's story about the cat that gave a wish to the little girl was so funny that we listened twice before listening to the rest of the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! Katherine Kellgren was up to her superb reputation as a top reader.

Any additional comments?

Can't wait for the squeal with Saturday's story.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Pleasantly surprised by the story line characters and interaction of the whole thing. I wasn't sure what I was expecting but I got on sale and got very good reviews. This isn't my normal read. but I really enjoyed to the very end..

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sunday and the entire Woodcutter family......the extended persons as well.

What about Katherine Kellgren’s performance did you like?

I never heard her before but she was perfect for this story

Any additional comments?

This was a marvelous mix of Grimm Brothers and a quirky sense of humor and the macabre. I enjoyed and found it better than expected. I may check out more of this authors work.

Grimm in a blender with a dash of humor

Last week when I was on the audible website I was saddened to read that Katherine Kellgren had passed away earlier this year. I had enjoyed her as Jackie Faber and bought this book in her memory. It is a lively and clever story with many characters and she does an amazing job (once again) bringing them to life. It is definitely a YA book that didn’t cause me to drive around the block or loose any sleep but I did enjoy it and felt rather sad knowing this talented lady isn’t with us anymore. I will probably listen to the rest of the series eventually and would definitely recommend them to a younger audience.

Enchanting.....
