When a dystopian government controls every aspect of society, siblings Wisty and Whit Allgood may be the world's only hope in this magical beginning of James Patterson's Witch & Wizard series.

The world is changing: the government has seized control of every aspect of society, and now, kids are disappearing. For 15-year-old Wisty and her older brother Whit, life turns upside down when they are torn from their parents one night and slammed into a secret prison for no reason they can comprehend. The New Order, as it is known, is clearly trying to suppress Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Being a Normal Teenager. But while trapped in this totalitarian nightmare, Wisty and Whit discover they have incredible powers they'd never dreamed of. Can this newly minted witch and wizard master their skills in time to save themselves, their parents—and maybe the world?

Not sure if it was the way it was put together and produced but it felt like listening to the TV. decent story line little predictable and borrowed alot. Entertaining listen for my kids on a roadtrip.

Feels like a network movie

I have always wanted to read Pattersons work and this book was on the top of my list of books I wanted to read. And damn did this not disappoint! I loved it. I cannot wait to start book 2. I'm sure it will be everything that book 1 was, and more. I highly recommend this book and the narrators are great. Elijah Wood has a very recognizable voice and he didnt disappoint with his ability to narrate his character. Both narrators did a great job. Very well done.

Loved this book!

I enjoy the story I'd read the series years ago and the story is interesting in this book. (I dont recall the story well enough from others to judge as a hole) but I find the readers a little bland and are not able to make me feel like I'm experiencing the book as much as others. though I do enjoy that the reader changes based on the chapter viewpoint

good
