Gordon Ramsay
Everyone thinks they know the real Gordon Ramsay: rude, loud, pathologically driven, stubborn as hell. But this is his real story…
This is Gordon Ramsay’s autobiography – the first time he has told the full story of how he became the world’s most famous and infamous chef: his difficult childhood, his brother’s heroin addiction and his failed first career as a footballer: all of these things have made him the celebrated culinary talent and media powerhouse that he is today. Gordon talks frankly about:
- his tough childhood: his father’s alcoholism and violence and the effects on his relationships with his mother and siblings
- his first career as a footballer: how the whole family moved to Scotland when he was signed by Glasgow Rangers at the age of fifteen, and how he coped when his career was over due to injury just three years later
- his brother’s heroin addiction.
- Gordon’s early career: learning his trade in Paris and London; how his career developed from there: his time in Paris under Albert Roux and his seven Michelin-starred restaurants.
- kitchen life: Gordon spills the beans about life behind the kitchen door, and how a restaurant kitchen is run in Anthony Bourdain-style.
- and how he copes with the impact of fame on himself and his family: his television career, the rapacious tabloids, and his own drive for success.

Otherwise I thought it was good... he sounds like he's being really honest and barring his soul but I'm not sure because one I fall asleep and two you never never now. They are very moving insights about how poor he was and how he still keeps his first set of knives and whites.
Remember I'm exhausted out of my mind tired that's why the music really bugs me but when I am awake and hear the story it's very moving he's a fighter and a winner great combination.
On TV Gordon's often seen taking off his shirt and show off his chest but here he bare's some soul

Would you consider the audio edition of Humble Pie to be better than the print version?
Not me. I had a bit of a hard time coping with Ramsay's accent,Who was your favorite character and why?
Ramsay, of course.Would you listen to another book narrated by Gordon Ramsay?
Probably not. He speaks too fast and with an odd accent. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
NoAny additional comments?
I thought he kept much of his personal life to himself and share with us, readers, mostly his failures and sucesses in his professional carreer. I don't know how much a man that works as mich as he does have of a personal life, but I bet there must be some!I bought the book because I wanted to know more of who he is rather than how he works. Not what I expected
