Padraig Colum was an Irish dramatist, poet, novelist, essayist, biographer, children's writer, and editor. He was a leading figure of the Irish Literary Revival. Colum wrote The Children's Homer in 1918 as a retelling for younger readers of Homer's epic poems, The Iliad and The Odyssey. It recounts the adventures of Achilles and his allies as he waged war against the Trojans and the experiences of Odysseus on his voyage back from the Trojan War.

My children and I listened to this book, when my children were studying Greek and Roman civilizations in history. We all enjoyed it. Recently, I recommended it to a friend whose son has just finished studying ancient civilizations. I'm sure she will enjoy it as much as we did.Very well done!
