"Who is John Galt?" is the immortal question posed at the beginning of Ayn Rand's masterpiece. The answer is the astonishing story of a man who said he would stop the motor of the world and did.

As passionate as it is profound, Atlas Shrugged is one of the most influential novels of our time. In it, Rand dramatizes the main tenets of objectivism, her philosophy of rational selfishness. She explores the ramifications of her radical thinking in a world that penalizes human intelligence and integrity.

Part mystery, part thriller, part philosphical inquiry, part volatile love affair, Atlas Shrugged is the book that confirmed Ayn Rand as one of the most popular novelists and most respected thinkers of the 20th century.

I gave this book a try based on a recommendation from a friend, I was not disappointed! Very good writing! The message in this book, really hit home right now with the current political unrest. Almost as a warning from the past!

A great warning from the past!!

Ayn Rand conjures a writing style somewhere between John Steinbeck and a mid 20th-century Times' news story. This novel applies to any person, especially any business person. She reminds the reader of the virtues in practicality, while the monster of jealously spies upon the meek as well as the bold.

This story is really great. This narration I like a little bit better than the unabridged version narration. But the way they have bridged this story was a bit too abrupt. I would have preferred that they had left in a few scenes they took out.

the story is amazing and narration very good but

the guy that reads this book is very talented. there's enough of a change in accent and inflection for you to distinguish the voices of each character. the story is very good, if a little long and drawn-out. trust me, listen to this one and not the 50 hour unabridged version.

pretty good audiobook

If you could sum up Atlas Shrugged in three words, what would they be?

I like Ayn Rand and this one is an oldie AND a goodie. My mom, God rest her soul, told me for YEARS to read this book. I finally decided to give it a try. It is a real gem. Nothingl you've read before. No blood, no guts, but plenty of GLORY. You WON'T BE disappointed.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Atlas Shrugged?

Where did everybody go?

Which character – as performed by Edward Herrmann – was your favorite?

Who was_______________?

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

She walked out, she came back, she came back, she walked out.

Any additional comments?

Ayn Rand wrote another book I read many years ago. I think it was
