About this listen
Audie Award Finalist, Paranormal, 2014
The ever after, the demonic realm that parallels our own, is shrinking, and if it disappears, so does all magic. It’s up to witch-turned-daywalking-demon Rachel Morgan to fix the ever-after before the fragile balance between magic users and humans fails.
Of course, there’s also the small fact that she caused the ley line to rip in the first place, and her life is forfeit unless she can fix it. And that the most powerful demon in the ever after - the soul-eater Ku'Sox Sha-Ku'ru - has vowed to destroy Rachel, and has kidnapped her friend and goddaughter as leverage. If Rachel doesn’t give herself up, they will die.
Forced by circumstance, Rachel teams up with elven tycoon Trent Kalamack - a prospect fraught with dangers of the heart as well as betrayal of the soul - to return to the ever after and rescue those she loves.
Both worlds teeter on the brink, one on a possible interspecies war, the other for its very existence, and it’s up to Rachel to keep both from being destroyed.

Story
"Happily Ever After" wasn't supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of 20 years packs up and heads for greener pastures, and my son heads away to college, that's exactly what my midlife becomes. A do-over. This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at 40 I'm ready to carve my own path. Eager for a fresh start, I make a somewhat unorthodox decision and move to a tiny town in the Sierra foothills.

Refreashing !!!!!!
the "Ever After" is one of the best and most comprehensive and refreshing book of the Hollows series written by kim. Many things long talked about and speculated over were brought to light; showing the true power and emotional fortitude of Rachel when it came to making tough decisions that could either demonize her or humanize what she thought about herself. this was one of the book I eagerly anticipated for 2013 and it didn't disappoint, seeing the true faces of both demons and elves and the long war the raged for eons.
question Answered
who started the war????
how was the lay lines created???
the strength and power of the wild magic... etc

Exciting and full of surprises
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ever After?
Al, Trent and Rachael working together.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The story that shows the new direction of the series
Any additional comments?
After reading/Listening to the previous books, (you will want to read them in order), this has some surprises and shows how the character relationships have changed. I don't want to spoil anything so I am not mentioning what happens but it is what I expected. Overall this is a good series and well worth getting.

Surprising all the way around.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The climax of the book keeps surprising you with it's twists and turns while the ending leaves you guessing what the next book will hold.
Any additional comments?
(POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT) For those of you who like Ivy, She is almost non-existent in this book. Many of the other base characters are not very active either. A lot of the formerly background characters are brought to the front and discussed in more details and you learn more history about the Demons and Gargoyles.

Rachel is a witch/demon saves the ever after
What made the experience of listening to Ever After the most enjoyable?
Kim Harrison is very creative in her descriptions of witches, elves, demons, pixie, gargoyles, and others. She adds human and animal like emotions to this special world.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ever After?
With rings Al, Trenton, and Rachel are combined mentally to defeat the rogue demon, understanding between species brings about understanding and strength to defeat the rogue.
What does Marguerite Gavin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Margaritas Gavin's performance is flawless. It is very well modulated. You just want to listen to her.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Rachel is taking care of Rae and has to answer questions from the press before she can leave Trenton's house without giving the press information.
Any additional comments?
This is the eleventh book in this series I have and most of which I have also in book form.

If you've followed this series this is the best
What made the experience of listening to Ever After the most enjoyable?
Intense character development, and the fact that Rachel seems to have matured and knows who she is and accepts the good and the bad with that. The fact that Rachel and Trent seem to be working together to make things better. Learning to trust.
What did you like best about this story?
We learn a lot about characters especially Al, and how he really feels, though he can't express it in words that most would like to hear.
Which scene was your favorite?
There were many, because there are characters who have been in the series for a while who will be lost to us. They were not my favorite but, very moving
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I would end up spoiling but just know that even Al has feeling and it shows in this story. Not all Daemons are equal.
Any additional comments?
This was one of Kim Harrison's best in this series. There will be another, because it was just left that way at the end that there will be more. Marguerite Gavin, has be awesome at narrating this series. The voices of each character both male and female. Also putting the emotions in each. There was a lot of sub stories in this book, but the bottom line is that Rachel and Trent learned to trust each other. Big step.

Amazing! So great work..meditation..other space re
wonderful..characters..and new horizons! meditation..space that is just as real as here and ever after...amazing..justice to those who go through work in other manners..thank you for bringing the reality Kim Harrison! The detail even in magic / geography amazing. (prior work ) - I can only wait for the day we have more cities with better 24/7 work conditions around nocturnal, daytime, and diurnal folk rather than forced 1st 2nd 3rd shift ..and a world where we can follow our instincts without social concern like basic medical...even Rachel had to fight for that. :) Amazing.first to last.

It gets better and better
This is a very entertaining book with a complex storyline. But, Harrison handles it well and you never get lost or bored. Rachel is at her best with the help of her friends. There is a lot of action and character development. This is one of the best examples of an urban fantasy series.

Loved It!
Where does Ever After rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I love Kim Harrison she spins a story that keep you inthralled from the opening! and what I like even more about Kim Harrison stories is there is no soft porn in every other chapter she has a good story to tell. Loved it wish I could find more writers like her. I have offically stopped reading what used to be my favorite writers ie. Julie Garwood, Linda Howard, Nora Roberts, Karen Robards and Sandra Brown they all depend on soft porn to sell books!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ever After?
Rachel and Trent in the last chapter.
What does Marguerite Gavin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
how to pronounce some of the demon's names
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yes
Any additional comments?
